Something decent may still be a waste of money because despite what many think of the fight, it will draw big. Looks like the promotions will be stepping up too. Ads on CBS? About damn time!!

But I hear ya. We can hope. And if HBO put up a bad ass fight to counter, I'd just hope it will be on HBO Championship, not a competing PPV, that would be bad for all parties. Fans included.

I agree with this. They need to just chill out and put on something the weekend after. Maybe everybody will be so excited about boxing that they want to see another fight the next weekend

Why stop now you ask? Because all those other times, HBO had the fighters guaranteed to pull in the fans. Whether it was DLH, Vargas, Floyd, or Pac. They have none of those now.

Wish that were true for boxing. When was the last time competing cards resulted in better fights made? :huh

    I'm not a ***** **** juice. I've proved that many times over.

As i stated in the first post this idea came from me reading the Hauser article. In the article if you read it...he states HBO should not counter program or cease business with Top Rank which I agree with. I'm just saying for arguements sake HBO the company can warrant a reason to counter. especially if they are bitter.

This is a Boxing forum, I then went and shared the idea to see what other boxing fans could come up with.

If you or anyone else has a problem with it you can close out of the thread, log off and then go suck a dick infected with AIDS.

Nothing, if they're smart. It would be a waste of money.

Don't you thinbk that's a bit childish and detrimental to any possible business with Arum, and especially Pac?

They are bitter they lost Pac for a fight or two, and countering a show when TP has a big one is gonna help them? :huh Don't see that.

We all lose if HBO tries to counter big, because if it's PPV, Pac - Shane outsells it. But both do lower numbers then if they were on seperate days. If they conter with an HBO Champ. fight, won't be as bad, as people can at least tune into both.

HBO has almost 30 million viewers and all the ones that watch boxing will be ordering a $50 PPV?

    Good for you.

How about for the country?

As a general description, whites are something like 75% of the country. Blacks and Latinos make up 10% or a little more. Mexicans themselves are a subset of Latinos. HBO is a premium channel meaning it's a luxury item, so the people that tend to buy it are richer than your average run-of-the-mill person, which demographics show is more white than black and Latino.

So what percentage of the HBO subscriber base cares about no Mexican boxing on Cinco de Mayo weekend and will also not watch Pacquiao-Mosley? Because if you're making the argument that the majority of people that subscribe to HBO will only want to watch a Mexican on Cinco de Mayo weekend, then you're saying the number of blacks and whites that watch HBO for boxing is dwarfed by that group, meaning boxing is in horrible shape at the moment because there are few to none non-Mexican boxing fans currently.

The point of this thread Lance is for us boxing fans to come up with a fight we would like to see that we might not normally get out of HBO but maybe now we can b/c they will try to one up arum and Company.

That's a great point, I didn't think of it that way. If they counter it then it might cut all ties with Top Rank. It could be beyond repair as it stands anyway but who knows.

How many of the 30 million could care less about boxing to start with?

Yes, because Ross Greenburg cares what some guy on a message board thinks he should spend his money on to counter program one of the top two draws in this country. He's lucky if he has a job in a year for losing this fight and you want him to flush even more of his money down a hole to fight a losing war.

I understand what the point is. And you are getting answers. Do you WANT HBO to counter? :huh
