cotto's definitely not gonna be as good at 154 and clottey will be better. i would only want to see this if they went back to 147 for the third fight. :yep

Lol come on now lets not be so hard on Cotto. He may do fairly well. I mean neither of the two are very tall so they'll probably be beat by taller fighters, BUT against each other their fight should be close again.

cotto's one of my favorite fighters, but he's just not built for anything above 147. i think he's got a good shot against foreman, but foreman's no joke and he's definitely got the height/range/stamina advantage.

What are you talking about? If we go by what your saying then he should be the linear, ring magazine, undisputed WW king. He is not. He is going to get beat by another small guy you claim he is picking on. Well, maybe he would do better at just say 154. He is making WW, but maybe he is not at 100%. That point I will give you. We won't know until he moves up.

I see where the TS is coming from.

If I am not mistaken, before, official fghting weights or weigh ins are done on fight nights, so for a welter, you have to be at 147 maxed during fight night. I believe they should really go back there to minimize over-sized boxers trying to pick on smaller guys. Most of the time they dehydrate themselves to make weight, but rehydrates to their normal weight during fight nights. This way, if you can not make the weight during the fight night safely, you do not belong in that weight class.

Again, the TS has a valid point as to how ripped and muscular Clottey is. I can see him moving up to 154 and possibly 160. As far as Hatton, he has no choice due to punch resistance at higher weights. Clottey might have more success at 154. Clottey does kind of get sluggish towards the ending rounds. You never know, he might be much stronger at 154.

I agree that he probably is better at 154, BUT its BS that yall are saying because Hatton sux above 140 he shouldnt have to fight above that weight. He sux because he didn't gain muslce to make 147 but instead just didn't lose as much of his fat as usual. He's a fatass

It's too hard to say what is the right weight for fighters to cut. I'm sure Clottey weighs about 170 walking around, but it's probably not his leanest and best competitive weight. If he started fighting at 170 there would be fighters cutting from larger amounts of weight and make him look small. I'm sure he is cutting from 170 to be able to fight fighters around his weight and where he feels more comfortable.

Each weight class has a range of people coming in at different weights, body fat percentages, bone densities, muscle mass, water weight, etc. When I was wrestling for the college the weight classes were 125, 133, 141, 149, 157, etc. I wrestled 141 and walked around 145, why? Because I was lean, took care of my body, and couldn't make 133 without cutting off an arm. I was just as big as most of the people in my weight class who were cutting from 150, 55, 60, and stronger and more enduring than just about everyone I wrestled. Even some of the 125 and 133 lb competitors weight just as much as me or more in the off season or after making weight.

It depends on too many factors to say walking around weight is too big or too small.

I would also say 1. I think in general most competitors cut too much weight, but you don't do it you give up an advantage. 2. In wrestling we had same day weigh-ins and hydration and body fat tests that give us guidelines to making what certain weight class we should go. It needs to be regulated better, but if boxing had a similar regulating commission than the fighters sizes wouldn't range as much. It's not just dangerous to the small fighters fighting big guys, but big guys cutting to too much weight. (Ala Delahoya - Pacqiauo)

I do think he should take a few easy fights first than go on to finish with either a Clottey or Margo rematch.
