From 130 to the Baldomir fight was Floyd's absolute prime IMO.

his prime was right know. i'm not sure if at this stage he was in his prime. But what is prime?? He fought at 130 pounds different, but that does not mean that he is not in his prime. Now he fought stronger opponents and he fought more in the pocket. Its incredible to see how people critic without reason. When Floyd move "he run" and when he is in the pocket he is not in his prime. Look the Mosley fight and in the 8 or 9 round he goes running to his corner. He has legs for a full stable of horses. He did not fall with the Mosley punch and Mosley push him, that show how strong his chin and his legs are. More important to answer that question, look at the numbers and forget the stupidity of some people. With Hernandez Corrales and Gatti the numbers are 54%, 53%, Gatti 57% punches connected. For the same trio punches taken 33%, 29%, 17%. Take his most recent fights now Mosley, marquez and De la Hoya: 44%, 59%, 43% Total Punches. It seems a little bit less but take a look at his defense numbers. Punches taken for the same trio: 20%, 12%, 24% and you see much better than the defense numbers of before. Now you decide where is his peak. Numbers dont lie, Mayweather has been improving in his defense numbers now that he fought toe to toe with his opponents than before that he move a lot, he mantains almost the same accuracy. His prime has been always!!!!!!

He's a weird fighter. His physical prime was at 130. Floyd was the quickest, and moved the most fluidly, put punches together more and had his quickest reflexes. I also think his chin was the best at this weight.

But now he's a much smarter boxer and better defensively. He may have 2 different peaks. But I'll go with Gatti because it's in the middle and blends the smart Floyd and athletic Floyd

Gatti was shot at that point and nothing but a paper titlist.

Floyd's prime was 130lbs where he beat the **** out of guys in their prime

    Mayweather's prime was 2001 until 2007.

He was the best in his last years at 130. But he maintained a similar level until his first period at 147.

He was prime physicaly from 130 to 140

the gatti performance was his best combination of speed and power- and the last time he stopped a legit big tough guy, great perf.
the lighter perf against corrales was awesome too.

depends what you like- i liken it to jordan, air jordan of 88? the older 72 win jordan who had the fadeaway? or the middle jordan of 93 who had a bit of both.

130 floyd was as slick and quick as ever- untouchable
floyd now is bigger and more confident than ever- more experienced and smart- a master of his craft.
and the floyd that fought gatti and zab was somewhere in between.

the guy hasnt lost at all or been challenged in so long- that its hard to not say its all been one long peak. to have a peak- you need a low- and he hasnt exactly had a low other than when he s retired- and maybe the baldomir performance was a stinker- but otherwise- when has he been ****?
