Right now we can choose, there is a lot of boxing out there, if not live boxing, then classic or semi-classic matches at will. There were darker times. Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis, and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of. And unto this, we could only watch whatever it was thrown to us from the TV. Darker times when I watched literally every boxing match I could, and even I had to say thank you, because in my country nobody gives a **** about boxing so it was extremelly rare to be able to watch even a bad match.
Why the hell would you not watch the BEST and most exciting division in boxing, where the big punching granite chinned beasts are like smaller in shape heavyweights , the best face the best in this division, for me Cruiserweight has produced the best matches in the last decade.
I just dont like it. The wannabe-HW-but-I'm-not division. Everything I dont like about HW, plus less power and without all the ostentation of the highest weight. With people who are there forced, and who are praying for the oportunity of getting out of there and being able to make much more money in the HW. The weight I dislike the most. And by far. edit: And I'm perfectly aware that it's unfair for the Cruiser weight fighters. It's not their fault. But I just cant help it. I dont like this division at all.
I prefer watching quality matches. Doesn't matter what weight class. A good matched fight is exciting at any weight.
Not always they does have less power. Actually someone walking around at some 210-220lbs and trimming down might be 200-209, maybe 210lbs and more in the ring with very low fat. As for HW boxers, sadly some from them are exactly former CW boxers who does not train hard anymore and therefore are at HW, being easy opponents are booked for prospects to fight with. For example only one division where fighter had used as excuse why he lost fight phrase: I did not had trained for this fight was HW. Normally boxer had bulked up approx 30 lbs fat during 5 months since last fight and vuala, appeared that does not train. Of course HW division does have also some very athletic boxers percentage, hardworking lads who are diligent. This too depends from country ( in US HW is worshiped more ) , how popular boxer is ( for all levels from small shows till medium size or large promotions ). Some fights with tickets sellers for 1000 bucks at HW or even lesser money. Some fights for 2k, 3k, 5k etc. We usually do see only higher ranked percentage of them, champs, top 15, at least top200 boxers. If you are highly ranked, enough well known, ofc HW at top pays more than lower divisions. Local shows, more depends how good tickets seller one is, sometimes welterweight is paid more if with him on fight night card tickets sales are very good. Not enough known even for this local level boxers are paid not well.
It all depends on the matchup, so any weight class will do although I will admit below 118 I am not that familiar with the fighters.
Bridger maybe is very suitable for lads who performs better with weight in weight between 200-224? lbs. I do not care so much but there are some interesting fights that might be made with bridger weight in limit. For example old Briedis vs Lerena. Old Briedis just cos he was more watchable with 213-214 lbs weight in weight than at CW and surprisingly when was young with 86 kg limit for KB fights. The best his versions ever, not a CW boxer and Lerena looks that most likely will be more effective with weight in weight approx 220 lbs and is young up coming " hungry " cat.
I closely follow heavyweight, light heavy, middle, super middle welter light and feather I pay attention to cruiser and junior welter and junior middle and super fly and bantam the rest i watch when its on i just dont follow specific fighters or rankings etc
