Yep king helped guide a boring no thrills fighter like Ruiz to the title ...:think

No money at all to be made from John Ruiz...

Talent doesnt always get u the top prize.

King thought he could sell Ruiz based on ethnicity. He didn't bargain for the fact that boxing fans recognize a talentless fraud when they see one. Plus, Ruiz helped him control the title. More talented fighters had other options. Ruiz stayed with King because he knew without him, it's back to palookaville.

if someone told you that after ruiz's fight w/tua, one fighter would go on to win a world title and one would come up short, and that it was ruiz what would you say?

true. but when given the oppurtunity and you actually make the most of it and win. that's gotta say a little bit of something for stone. most fighters i think would be mentally ****ed after that ko.

But what you notice is that after this fight, against any decent opponent, Ruiz resorted to illegal holding tactics, and in some cases, outright overacting to get bogus "low blow" calls. And the power of King at that time allowed him to get away with it. My point is that Ruiz's acquisition of a paper title - let's be honest, he was never "the" heavyweight champion - is basically the product of cheating. This needs to be recognized.

yep. and the roy jones fan will call me a hater but i have some reservations about calling him the hw champ. he was a hw titleholder. let's be honest here he beat ruiz not lennox lewis.

Ruiz did not have King in the ring helping him drop and hurt Holyfield, hurt Rachman, hurt Johnson, and hurt Qquendo. A polooka as Zakman calls him can't hurt these former contenders. John was in there doing his job. If judges or refs screw up, how is it Johns fault? Zakman has always hated John. I think Zakman is still mad due to Zakman's wife having a poster of John on her side of the room. Yes, he was a title holder, but he did challenge Lewis. Get over the holdign. Ali use to hold repeatedly. Zakman, a word of advice, just take the poster down.

His qualifications were foul language and screaming at the top of his lungs.
