And does anyone know how much chance Duran was given, going into this fight?

Pretty sure Hearns was 9-5 fave, might have been 8-5. I'll look tomorrow night. Consensus was Hearns using his speed, reach and boxing ability to post a UD. Bugger all predicted a KO except Hearns.

I think Hearns was 5-2 on.

As of the morning of the fight those were the odds as quoted by some sources, with others have it quoted as being just a little higher at 11 to 4.

I know the odds tightened a lot the closer it got to fight time.

Hearns was roughly 5-2 to 3-1 on Favourite; Duran 6-4 to 2-1 against, and back then, they were lot more generous on the draw (33-1 to 50-1).

What were the odds on a KO in round 2? Wish I had put money on that but I was too young to bet at the time. :p

know a lot of people felt Duran would win based on his fight with Hagler.

    Yep.

I don't remember what the exact odds were, but it was considered a very close pick either way. NO ONE expected a blow out.

The exact odds were either 8-5 or 9-5 in favour of Hearns.

According to George Kimball, who gave us the odds in all of the fights between the "Four Kings", Hearns opened at 2-1 and the books also had it 2-1 to go the distance. The day before the fight it was about 13-10.

I have the "Four Kings" for Christmas from my father. I shall seek "Sorcery at Ceasars" rather shortly.
