people can hate calzaghe, people can question his resume, people can say he slaps like a *** but there are somethings that cannot be denied about joe calzaghe. 1 - he would go toe to toe with anyone and have a tare up. even though he wasn't the hardest puncher, he would put his balls on the line and slug it out with any of his opponents. 2 - when he got hurt or knocked down, he didn't get up and run or hold on for dear life, instead he got up off his ass and was prepared to mix it straight away toe to toe. 3 - he was able to adapt in fights, change strategy and find a way to come from behind and win. very few boxers today have this ability to adapt during fights.
And Calzaghe's record just improved! Byron Mitchell recently KO'ed David Telesco who took a prime Roy Jones the distance.
This is true, but it's not very significant. Calzaghe's no *****, but he's never really been taken into deep water.
list the people glen johnson has lost to and then come back and tell me you think he could seriously beat joe calzaghe.
Not at all desperate IMO, all very valid points that are 100% factual. You can't say the same about many fighters these days.
David Telesco is now 41 years old, and has fought twice in the last 4 years, and fought roy jones 9 years ago. Byron Mitchell got knocked out by Beibut Shumenov in his last fight
Joe Calzaghe certainly was a great fighter, but he's outside the top 50 greatest fighters of all time by some margin.
difference betwen calzaghe and jones was simply: when joe was knocked down he did not lay there like a prostrate gestating cocoon swollowing his own tongue and choking on his own anabolic saliva,he got up and said ok you woke me up there lets get it on!
the glen johnson references lol did calzaghe not beat the **** out of a guy who had just spanked glenn johnson? i.e omar sheika johnson lost to syd vanderpool a guy lacy decimated in 7.
