All these fights have something going for them; none of them are entirely predictable. Zab Judah is never predictable. Glen Johnson could be in any kind of form as people have noted, Green isn't good under pressure. Guerrero and Escobedo is just a solid matchup, good boxers, pretty evenly poised that one. Juanma is a big favourite as Marquez's win over Vasquez had a bit of smoke and mirrors about it, and he's by far the bigger, fresher guy. But at the same time I'm not sold on his overall boxing ability, I don't think he moves well nor is he very fast. Prime Marquez I'd pick handily but its impossible to know where he stands.
Who knows anything about Mattyhsse? The only time I've seen him is against Vivian Harris with that really, really dodgy stoppage. edit: He was 169 on Friday http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=5748987 I'm just hoping he's not draining himself, at his age especially the last few pounds must be a struggle.
Getting down to that weight at his age I thought would be near impossible. I'm not really keen on Green Vs Johnson seeing as anytime I've watched Green he hasn't been good. Another thing about Johnson making weight will he have the same workrate as he does at Light Heavyweight. I've only seen the Harris fight and maybe another on youtube against Burgos maybe but Burgos didn't look great. Will be interesting to see if he can take a Zab uppercut and wether he has the power to hurt Zab. Hopefully Zab has prepared for more than 6 rounds. Escobedo & Guerrero on paper looks a good fight probably the only one with nothing to fall through on it.
Thing is Glen Johnson is not a really big light heavyweight so he's got more of a chance than most of dropping weight at his age. That's the one thing in his favour, he's always the smaller man at light heavyweight and if he's at 169 now thats a very good sign. It's not gone down to the wire. As long as he retains his work-rate Green will be in trouble because that guy is terrible under pressure. Green doesn't have many redeeming features to be honest, he can't fight up close and he hasn't got a great work-rate on the outside, he's not a great outfighter and he overrates his own power.
Nail on the head about Green TFFP. The only person who believes the stuff that comes out of his mouth is himself. Ward although a very good fighter completely shout Green down. He looked terrible on the outside against him and wasn't able to keep him off him and then on the inside he didn't get his punches off. I can see Johnson if he keeps his work rate just swarming Green and out working him. Greens power hasn't really been showing at top level either with knocking down Miranda being his biggest accomplishment really and with a chin like Glens its going to take some doing for him to do it. Still not sure about the Juanma fight I think he wins it but depending on which Rafa shows up it could be extremely difficult or slightly easy.
I probably won't be watching any live, but I'm interested in all the match-ups bar Escobedo-Guerrero, doesn't really interest me for some reason.
