I would like to see Bakole Vs Hrgovic. I think somebody may well take up the option before it reaches Bakole... but I'm hoping it doesn't.
So its just come out now that the entire top 15 of the IBF has ducked Hrgovic They got down to Bakole and he wants tune up first and wont take the fight. So does the IBF go down to number 16 or 17 and offer them a higher ranking (inside the top 15) if they take it? Or do they just hand the title to Hrgovic and let him have a voluntarily defence?
Boxing Squared just released an update saying that Bakole was offered it and ducked it. A real shame and embarrassment to the sport.
WTF ? Why nobody wants that fight ? There are Parker, Yoka, Ruiz, Ortiz, Joyce, even Hughie Fury it the rankings. Nobody wants it ?
Hearn stated specifically that Ruiz, Ortiz, Yoka and Martin all turned down the chance to fight Hrgovic.
If everyone did **** the bed at the idea of fighting Hrgovic they should drop everyone down in the rankings leaving Hrgovic as the number 1 and mandatory. Hrgovic's team need to petition the IBF to do this if everyone in their top 15 is too scared. Damn Hrgovic coming over as the next Sonny Liston everyone ducking him. Martin can't even claim injury anymore with him calling out Whyte.
I think McKean already turned it down, as he was above Bakole in the rankings. It wouldn’t have got to Bakole had McKean taken it. Bakole was the last man at number 15 in the rankings to turn it down after they went through everyone else.
The sport is professional boxing. What's the payday on offer for fighting him? I think it comes down to how much people are willing to accept to take (or risk taking in the case of better fighters) an L. Not enough for any of the current IBF top 15 appears to be the answer.
Don't think the money on offer will be great judging by what was proposed for Hrgovic vs Hunter. Its sad that the allure of a final eliminator for a world title shot isn't enough to take a risk. Sounds like Bakole ducked him, agreed to August, then wanted September and then claims he needs a tune up. Sad really.
