.....and btw, there is a rumor that it did this, that it did that......:tired Show us the link to these rumors??? Any bozo can start a false rumor. Link or STFU!
In the final analysis, it really does'nt. What the Diaz fight for Pac, and the Casamayor fight for JMM shows us, is that they need the right dance partner to draw big numbers with a paying audience. Its just that simple!
The official report for Pac-David was 250k with rumours about it being 190k. JMM-Casa seems to be at 90k-100k with rumours around being 50k. I can say this, Casamayor is definitely a bigger name than David Diaz, the more competetive fight and that fight still drew less numbers...I think we know who the bigger draw is. Sure it takes 2 to tango but guarantee ODLH wouldnt have gotten 2.2mil buys with anyone else other than PBF that night...still doesnt change the fact that DLH was mainly the draw therefore got the biggest share of the pie. 70/30. Its the same with RJJ-Ruiz, that fight was one of RJJ's biggest ppv's going over 500k, but thats not cos of Ruiz. The fans tuned in to watch RJJ take on a challenge, not watch Ruiz take on a challenge. Just like the majority of fans tune in to watch Pac in a tough fight, not tune in to watch JMM in a tough match. JMM is definitely responsible for the big numbers but most are tuning in to watch Pac against an elite fighter, not the other way round.
Where are you getting the reports about the JMM-Casamayor numbers. Give me a link? Mike Marley's site was who originally quoted Bob Arum as saying that the Pac-Diaz fight did 250K.....then a few days later, one of there writers posted an article that it was actually much less than 200K, actually under 180K...... At least with Pac-Diaz, we got a few quotes on the buys from a few boxing sites......I have yet to see any boxing site posting PPV numbers for JMM-Casamayor. You're saying 90 to 100K, come up with a link or STFU and dont post such garbage! If its 40K, give me a link to a boxing site that is making that claim?
Are you classifying Juan Diaz and Nate Campbell as great lightweights? You must have low standards.....I dont thrown the term "great" around loosely, and I certainly would'nt use the term "great" on those two. They're very good lightweights, but they are far from great imho!
Oh and you classify Joan "no show" Guzman as a great fighter? Yes, I do think they are great at the current scene at LW, just because they are not comparable to previous ATG 135lbers, doesn't mean they are not great at this point in time. They would give ANYBODY(including JMM, Guzman and Pac) ALOT of trouble at 135 and could even beat them. Lets not underestimate them just because their last name is not Marquez.
Its important that fights that dont belong on PPV arent there. Marquez vs CasaMayor is a fight that doesnt belong on PPV, and its important that such a fight fail and have **** PPV numbers so that a greedy person like DLH of Golden doesnt shove future fights that should not be on PPV down our throats. Bull**** PPV will further kill this Sport.
you will not see any official ppv buy of the Casa vs jmm. gbp will never release it. because it is embarrasing. why do you think they were all quiet about that. use your brains please:rofl
I disagree with your statement. When you have former champs (112, 122, 126) coming up in weight to fight the so-called great champs of this era at 135, and the vast majority consider them favourites to beat these "great" champs at 135, then I don't think they are so great. D. Diaz defeated by Pac.... J. Casamayor defeated by JMM.... so far two for two, the only one that still champ is Nate Campbell who did not fight because Guzman's f****** it up completeley, but Joan was the favourite in that fight as well. Can you imagine if Guzman had fought and defeated Campbell? It would have improved the record three for three. IMO Pac, JMM and Guzman are great boxers but also the so-called great champs at 135 aren't (they were not) great champs. If you think they are great then why didn't they win the last two matches? Let me tell you that other posters have said the same (or similar) thing before. Even before Pac, JMM and Guzman decided to make the move to 135, many posters were of the opinion that the present (former)champs at 135 are (were) weak. I don't pretend to know it all, I am just one more of those who thought they were weak. Here is a thread I started awhile ago. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39158
Don't get all pissy just because I happen to have access to information that you don't have access to. I'll post whatever I feel like posting. And you have the option of believing it, or not believing it. Post a link that proves you don't give $10 blowjobs on the weekends. No link?? Then STFU!!!
It does matter business-wise and in attracting big names, when a fighter can't draw then sometimes he can be considered a fight not worth going for if there's someone else who can draw more around. It's all about money you know, this is why everyone wants DLH and everyone wanted Tyson(in his last few years). Drawing more = more money.
