    Why? Pacquiao is Filipino not Thai. It is on par with calling an Englishman, Scottish or a USA national, Canadian...

    Eubank-Watson II.

    And Pacquiao-Hatton. I thought Hatton had been killed and i'm not joking. Not sure why, but I got a terrible fright, a bit like somebody's granny might have.

    There are several articles with Mike Everett discussing the events.

    As per his account,,,,,,,if he had won,
    he would have been killed by snipers,,,,that would have been hiding on
    the building roof tops along the road leading to and from the arena.

    Remember, this fight was in Saensak Muangsurin's home town of Roi-et.

    I thought Hearns' kayo of Duran was pretty dramatic at the time. I watched it on ITV's "World of Sport" on the Saturday afternoon (UK time). I believe the fight took place on the Frday night...I didn't know the result so it was in effect "live".

    I mean, NOBODY believed that Duran could be KO'd like that...it just seemed impossible...but the way Hearns did it was jaw-dropping. Added to the fact that a very young Jim Rosenthal did the commentary (it was usually Reggie Gutteridge on ITV) and was extremely over-excited in the commentary just added to it...

    It must have been dramatic 'cos it was nearly 28 years ago and the first thing that entered my head when I read the title of this thread...

    Actually there is some odd way that Mike Everett got the
    WBC Light Welterweight Title shot in August 1977,
    despite losing 2-bouts in a row in April.
    * April 15,,,,,L KO 1,,,,, Miguel Montilla
    * April 2,,,,,,,L Dec 10,,,Saoul Mamby

    OH, the WBC and their sneaky dealings...:roll:

    From what hasn't been mentioned. Oliver McCall crying his way to the ring and having a mental breakdown was pretty weird to watch.
