You need to take you medications buddy. You are getting paranoid. I don't know who is puertoricane or whateverhisname is. Isn't too hard to check IP's. I like Gamboa and I like him even more after seeing the interview. I think he is a very nice guy. I never talked crap about Gamboa. Only thing I say is he still needs to prove himself against the top oposition. Mtagwa??? The best day in Mtagwa's career he was a 122lbs opponent. Then, they put him in a ring against Gamboa, who is a very strong 126lbs. Mtagwa didn't even belong there. But I am not blind by nationality. I dont think Juanma is ready for Gamboa yet. He lacks the experience(even if it doesn't look that way when you look at pro records). Juanma still has too many mistakes to be corrected.
OH!! No doubt buddy. Potential?? Excellent fighers. And hungry for victories. We will definately see more cuban champions in the next three years. But TAKE OVER?? I JUST HATE ****ING DRAMA QUEENS!! It's not like they are going to take over the sport or anything like that.
Nope im not ricky and we're not the same person, you guys are taking this too personal. This is a forum to give opinions and i'll give mine i dont care if you like it or not. I love cuban boxing i always been a fan of it because they are latinos and always do good internationally in the amateurs. But to think they're going to dominate in the pros is just stupid. Right now all they have is hype like any other famous prospect that comes in to boxing with a lot of potential and fame people are going to hype them up. But they havent done anything yet and they have to prove it in the ring. At their ages i dont think they have a lot of time to do it plus they havent looked that great either and considering their opponents thats saids a lot. :hat
Ok. Let me throw this out there to see what do you think about it. After watching videos of at least three fight of both of them I have to say I am more impressed with Lara's boxing skills than Gamboa. I like Gamboa better just because he is a nicer guy. Lara is just too cocky!. But his defense and counterpunching abilities IMHO are better ther Gamboa's

Very good observation! You are one of the few fans who see that point, props to you for that... :good
Did'nt see that special but have seen many of them about the Cuban sports programs. Cuba has the most disciplined boxing school in the World...
I agree with 95% of your post except the last part about Chinese boxers. For some strange reasons, the Blacks are the best boxers no doubt about that, followed closely by the Europeans but the Asians are not that good in boxing. Now, table tennis, gymnastics, diving are their thing! :good
You have just mentioned possibly the greatest Cuban amateur boxer, Ariel Hernandez Azcuy! For those of you who don't know this Cuban amateur legend I suggest that somehow you try to see this guy. He was a southpaw middleweight with " lighting speed and brutal power ", followed by insane footwork, the best defence ever seen etc. He decisioned Chris Bird in the Olympics when he was just 18 years old, he also won 2 Olympic Golds I believe as well as many International events! That guy would had " teared throw the middleweights in the pros " The only real way to discribe him is like this, " the speed of Gamboa, the 1 shot KO power of Tyson and the defence of Pernell Whitaker in his prime or possibly better, plus he was a southpaw!!! Incredible talent... :bart
Joel Casamayor actually " dominated the very best in his weight class ", and 3 major fights were stolen from him. Juan Carlos Gomez is considered of the very best " professional Cruiserweight Champions along with Holyfield ", he defended his WBC crown 10 times and " destroyed " every opponent in his path. These are just 2 solid World Champs out of a very small group of 8 or 10 Cuban defectors, not from " hundreds " of fighters like the rest of the Countries have! If the Cubans were allowed to fight pro I agree, " they would have a World Champion at every weight class ", statement made by Joel Casamayor...
here ya go http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=125160 and trust me bro, they are here to stay.
Ricky, I understand your harsh words and I can see why because you are PR. But if you look at boxing history it's nothing new that the Cubans were " major stars " in boxing. Cuba was the most " accomplished Latin country in boxing ", followed by PR and Mexico. If they managed to be like that before Castro when the Island had just " half " of the current Cuban population, then today would be " double " the success or perhaps " tripple " without a doubt... Even though that the Cuban defectors should be fighting " B opponents " right from their pro debut also keep in mind that they have to make the " shift " from amateur to pro, and learn on the process. So that's why you will see Yudel Johnson fighting C opponents, he also has to learn. You have to look at their " potential " and not who they have fought so far, of course that counts but only with time they will step up the competition... About dominating pro boxing? Well let's see... The Cubans only have around 17 or 18 defectors right now who are campaigning mostly at featherweight, junior middleweight, middleweight, light heavyweight, cruiserweight and heavyweight. When we speak of " dominating " it literally means having at least 1 to 2 solid World Champions in each weight class... That will not be possible as of now because the majority of Cuban stars are still " locked up in Cuba under the amateur system ", roughly about 90% of them! But when they finally open up and all of those fighters enter the pros, then Cuba indeed will have at least 1 to 2 World Champions in each weight class, and that's very easy to believe... Since that time isn't here yet, the current defectors will still " cause a major impact on the sport of boxing " and will produce at least 5 to 7 solid World Champs including Rigondeaux, Gamboa, Lara, ( possibly Johnson ), Acosta, Franco and possibly Despaigne. The rest of the Cuban squad are also very talented and can also grab World Titles along the way... Take it easy my brother! :good
Like I said brother, as of right now no but once Cuba opens up " totally " then the " take over will really begin "... :good It's just a matter of time for that to happen...
