What's With The Dawson Hate?

I'm a Diaconu fan but I don't hate Dawson either....Dawson is very gifted but unproven by manys standards. He struggled with Johnson and steamrolled a shot Tarver, and now he claims he's starpower that deserves big money. Well fact is San, Dawson made 200,000 dollars less fighting Tarver as opposed to fighting Diaconu..This doesnt mean I hate Dawson. But I would love to see him get KTFO:yep

 

Nobodys hating on Dawson, its just that since beating a well past it Tarver, and after scraping a win against Johnson there have been threads saying he would beat a prime Roy Jones Jr and **** like that, its pathetic. Before posting this thread you must have seen the one where he was the best from 175 down, and he would destroy anybody at LH, while forgetting his camping trip to make sure Diaconu didnt get in with him. Dawson is good to watch, great hand speed and nice combos and along with Cloud and Diaconu is the future of the LH division but lets have some common sense, after the Johnson fight nobody wanted to know, now he takes an old Tarver to school he's Jones Jr, Tyson and Ali rolled into one. Hes young, talented and exciting in a division full of declined/declining fighters and ones getting there pension. I hope he doesnt spend his time calling them out and focuses on the other young fighters in his class, but to answer your question you should look at how many threads are saying he would beat anybody from 175 down, he is not hated, quite the opposite.

 

He beat Adamek pretty convincingly as well. People seem to keep forgetting about that fight, and it's quite possibly still his best win.

 

That's untrue. There was a thread asking who would win between the two and pretty much everyone picked Jones to beat him convincingly.

 

What's wrong with being flashy as long as you have the skills to back it up in the ring?

I agree Brickhaus:good But back to my post...If Dawson is that money hungry, or "trying to avoid poverty" why would he not fight Diaconu for 1.1 mil and still have fought Tarver for $900,000? Right now Dawson would be 1.1 million dollars richer. Why do people ignore this? By many peoples feelings of Dawson this would be a walk in the park and an easy paycheck..This is **** any boxing fan should question, not just fans of Adi....This is why Dawson gets the criticism he does, and it's not unfair

 

He gets very little criticism, and it's from guys like you. You expect him to keep trying to make a fight with a man who pulled out of their fight? When Dianconman earns the right, the fight will be made because Dawson has not avoided a fighter yet.

 

Look man you don't know the history. Diaconu earned the right, his team put up the biggest purse in Dawsons career(even still). YOu ignore the obvious which is why your ignorant posts like the one above mean jack **** to anyone who knows a goddamn thing:deal

 

First off, I'm not sure anyone has Dawson's exact purse numbers for the Tarver fight. Second, how much are taxes in Romania? Dawson fought in Las Vegas. There are no income taxes there. He lives in South Carolina, state taxes there would be around 7%. What T.V revenue? Dawson wil make residuals off of rebroadcasts of the fight. Would he get that fighting in Romania?

 

Your right, the majority had Roy winning but the man who made the thread and a few others were right behind Chad, dont get me wrong ive liked him before and I'll like him again, its just the bandwagon jumping nuthuggers after this weekend that have annoyed me.

I don't hate Dawson...in fact I think he's got tremendous skill. That said I am not a Dawson fan because he's clearly not a finisher. He's got that "play it safe" mentality and I think I remember reading somewhere that he's ok with fights going to the score cards. I like fighters who come in to hurt the other guy and want to knock their opponent out. I can appreciate Dawsons speed and skills but I don't like watching someone put on a clinic during a big fight.

I believe he could have knocked Tarver on his ass and out if he was a different type of fighter.
