Again, you don't have any concrete proof of Dawson's purse, and you don't know how much more money Dawson would make off of T.V residuals and due to lower taxes. What would rather have; 1 million gross at at tax rate of 45%, or 800k gross at a take rate of 10%? I'm not saying these are the tax figures, but it illustrates the effect that taxes can have on take home pay.
i must interject here,to label those with a slightly more balanced thought process with the harsh word that is hate simply because they prefer not to get ahead of themselves when judging a fighter,is a little melodramatic to say the least there is no hate for mr dawson just a slight retisance to avoid the bandwagon and form an opinion when he is down the line a little further,in this posters opinion.
Decebal posted a source earlier bro, and again you would have to ask thunder about the taxes there...Ultimately its a great fight with 2 styles that would mesh well, lets hope it happens for our sake:good
lol, once Dianconman backed out because of injury, Dawson wasn't going to sit around and say, I owe this man a shot. He is going to keep building his resume, and he wanted the Tarver fight. How can he be blamed for anything? You're just going on that article that was pro Dianconman that's all. Let's hear what Dawson and Shaw have to say about the matter.
I saw Decebal's post, it was **** a source. The guy said Dawson made 800k but also said it was much more than he would've made against Diaconu. So I don't think that guy knows what he's talking about. I've seen other sources that put his purse against Tarver at around $1.1 million.
Look bro, you've been on numerous forums with the history at your fingertips and have chosen to ignore them. Fact is Dawson camped on the lawn of the WBC president to have the Johnson fight be a sanctioned title fight. This was done only under the circumstances that the winner fight Diaconu afterwards. Dawson signed a contract stating that he would infact fight Diaconu if he beat Johnson. Diaconus camp won the purse bid giving Dawson a career high payday of 1.1 million. Dawson renegged on the deal for a final time and was rightfully stripped...again Dawson could've fought Diaconu and still have fought Tarver this past Saturday.....What about this don't you understand?
^ pretty much my opinion also. I don't despise the guy, as a matter of fact I quite enjoy watchin' him fight. Just think his hype train is a little ahead of what he's accomplished. Is that 'hate'?
There really isn't all that much Dawson hype. Let's not forget that this guy is only 26 and has already won 2 titles and beat Harding, Tarver, Johnson, and Adamek. So he's talented and accomplished.
I said 'a little'. Right? Folks arguing in support of the position taken by PBF are riding a train that is 'a little' ahead of what he's got done so far, imo.
Like what I have always said . . . most posters here are not real boxing fans per se . . . they are followers of just a few fighters . . . and anybody who is a threat to their idols get bashed and hated . . . anything just to pull the man down. :deal
But he's accomplished a lot. He's 26, has beaten 4 really good fighters and won 2 titles. Cotto was in everyone's top 5 p4p and considered the next Chavez after winning 2 vacant titles. There was no hate for him.
