No, Tarver is certainly a good fighter. His defense is still pretty good. However, he doesn't match up well with Chad. Chad is too fast, young, and athletic. Mosley is certainly on the slide, but he had the speed and chin to give Cotto a good scrap. I'll rate that win higher, but Tarver is no chump.
The purse is what you get after all taxes, dues etc. are payed. It's your cash-in-hand guaranteed pay amount, to do whatever you want with it. It's always been like this, all over the world. Income taxes have nothing to do with the purse. Dawson is a resident of the United States, so he would pay income tax there anyway, not where he provided a service. Does Tiger Woods pay income tax in whatever country he happens to win a golf tournament?
It's pretty normal these days, anyone who gets hyped up to bring boxing future fights is automatically hated without any appreciation till he retires. Instead of appreciating such fighters people prefer to insult them these days, especially the US. Look at how England supports their own fighters and Germany, if they had anyone like Dawson or even Mayweather they would appreciate them all the way and treat them with the respect they deserve.
http://www.tallahassee.com/article/20081013/SPORTS/810130324 "Dawson gave up the WBC belt instead of fighting his mandatory bout against Adrian Diaconu so that he could meet Tarver for a more lucrative payday of $800,000." Now, Dawson would have made $1,087,800 fighting Diaconu. So, if the $800k figure is correct, it could have gone like this: Reporter: Why is Dawson ducking Diaconu? Gary Shaw: He's a nobody that could KO Dawson and Dawson is making more money against Tarver anyway! Reporter: How much is Dawson making against Tarver? Gary Shaw: $800,000. ..because it's unlikely the reporter researched the result of the Dawson v. Diaconu purse bids only to say 800k was more than over 1 million.
don't let silly things like math get in your way. I personally don't understand outright 'hate' for him but there are a few things not to LOVE about Dawson. But since when has a fighter has to be 100% perfect to even deserve positive attention, that's ludicrous.
I don't hate him and don't know anyone who does either, but out of all professional fighters, I respect him the least, for these many reasons: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=17400&more=1 Honestly, he has few redeemable positive character traits: one is that he is a good family man and the other is that he gives credit to his opponents. I think he is very exciting and very talented, though! If he had a very good chin and if he was mentally stronger, I believe he'd be pretty much unbeatable, right now. Right now, I think he performs at B+ and over. His last fight, I thought was an A- performance against a B level fighter. Very impressive, but I was worried when he became zombified for over 30 seconds after Tarver hurt him in the third. A good puncher with finishing skills would have had him out, I think.
you know why folks ill let you goys in on the reason HE GOT WHOOPED BY AN OLD PAST PRIME GLEN JOHNSON which would not of been to bad, but you couldnt help but feel real sad for glen who worked his butt off to get that shot and WIN lol and to top it off he doesnt even get a freakin remacth THAT WHY!
