How many times have we seen this story play out? The talented prospect falls apart because of outside issues or mental problems. This lad needs to get what ever it is that's distracting him sorted or I'm afraid he's going to be playing along with this tired old tune that we're all so so familiar with.
Get a grip. One fight. Not every fighter is going to blow away their opponent. Look at how Davis dismantled Walsh earlier this year. And ****ing Pedraza before that. He's undoubtedly very special.
It wouldn't shock me in the least if he returned a positive test for a recreational drug, the kid is trash, a real vomit of a human being and he's on the road to self destruction, his 0 won't last long going at this rate. He clearly needs an intervention already for his ego, and in all likelihood that's not the only thing that's out of control about him.
He's falling into the mindset that boxing needs him. He believes he's bigger than the sport itself. He's not! He has potential and that's about it. Broner fell into the same trap. Pay your dues, keep your bubble head down and put in that work son! If you're as good as you want people to believe, you'll go far!
Well, what worried me the most it that he proved yesterday to be "not very smart". And, sicerely, speed, strengh and chin is not enough if you want to be great, it's enough to be good, but not to be great. You NEED to be smart too. And he didnt look like smart at all yesterday. A dumbass has a lot of chances of getting lost in his way up. I hope it's not his case, but let's see....
I would so love for Davis to go to 135 and get KOed by Mikey Garcia. Davis acts like he's the second coming.
I think Davis is a good guy. just incredibly thick and easily influenced and manipulated by TMT. He will avoid Garcia and lomachenko like the plague. I won't give him any credit until he fights either one of them
Big fan of davis but the whole weekends been a fiasco for him. Pretty sure theres mental problems of some kind there. Looks that way anyway. All the talent in the world but after last night looks like he,ll be the next guy to fail to fulfill his potential. Length not really big enough to go up in weight and still be as effective. Fail to see how a kid that bulky cant get some pounds off him. Performance was terrible to boot. Just didnt really look interested.
In terms of away from boxing, yes I agree totally; but in terms of training and fighting, Floyd's relentless work ethic, dedication to his craft and his gym rat approach (especially when he was younger) is the perfect blueprint for Davis. Upon missing the weight for this fight, someone on this forum -- I forget who -- stated words to the effect of "Davis strikes me as someone who wants the Money lifestyle without putting in the Pretty Boy work." I can't say I disagree.
yea its the same as broner he wasnted mayweathers money lifestyle but didn't want to put in the work like this kid also
Something not quite right with him but I can't quite put my finger on it. Definitely comes across like he's kind of dumb.
