Bull**** thread. The kid didn't quit. He took a beating and the corner stopped it. Nothing wrong with that.

The round before it was stopped he already wanted to quit but he sucked it up and went in with nothing left. Still taking solid shot and getting his in! That showed heart, with all the heavy shots he was taking I amazed he wasn't dropped earlier. I hope DeMarco learns from this fight and improves.

All he had to do is keep that jab going. He landed great shots on Valero and pushed him back, then just stopped. His lack of expirience show and cost him big time. Valero demonstrated he can box and brawl and dosn't let a cut distract him.

Let me tell you something as a healthcare professional, not as a boxing fan. They interviewed this kid 5 minutes after the fight was stopped. He was still short of breath and the ring corner was holding him during the whole interview. I will not be surprised if this kid has some rib damage, lung damage, or brain damage. You can say whatever you want, but the corner did the right thing.

Huge credit to Demarco tonight. He took a helluva beating and was still standing.

guys react different to getting punched in the face, some guys are easier to cut or swell up, i think demarco is the type of guy that is hard to cut or swell up(because he was definitley getting out landed, hard, by valero)
but i agree with you demarco couldnt figure valero out at all, valero did the most damage to demarcos mind and confidence

I think the thread should have been "What's up with some of these Mexican fighters trying to be all Chavez like." They all try and take the punches and act as if they won't get hurt. They have to understand, they are not Chavez. Chavez was very deceptive. He would take a punch but roll with it. He also bobbed and weaved. He wasn't just saying, "Punch me," like Mayorga did.

On another note, DeMarco wasn't as good as I thought. I wasn't too impressed with Valero either. I say Humberto Soto would do a number on him.

Remember you dont have to wobble someone to have them hurt. DeMarco took alot of hard shots and didnt need to take anymore. I think Valero had him hurt alot but DeMarco just went into a shell after he got hit hard.

big difference bro, gutierrez still had a shot (fighting a chinny fighter)..quirarte knew that demarco would only take punishment....plus, when you're in a do or die fight like gutierrez, it's easier to get a bit ballsy, but a young guy like demarco shouldn't have to go thru that, especially if his body just wasn't responding anymore........a friend of mine alejandro "timon" martinez (google him) was in a war of a fight last year, now look him up.....his never quit warrior mentality turned him into a vegatable......'

i'm not saying i dont like the warrior side of boxing, in fact it's what attracts me to it....but when you're young like that, somebody has to look after you cause 90% of fighters will just keep going and going until they die.......

Amen, Freddy. DeMarco's corner did the right thing. I wish more boxers had corners like that.
