Funny you mention Gaspar Ortego, B. With his spiked black hair and indian face, that's who Roberto Duran looked most like as passed ringside after demolishing his first opponent at the new Madison Square Garden.
Teaching a kid how to throw a jab, and realising after a while that he could now jab better than I can.
So many memories from my favourite sport. Stand-outs are watching Frank Bruno's early career fights when I was a kid and thinking nobody could possibly ever beat him. My Dad would later show me some old tapes of Joe Louis and I would realise what a true heavyweight champion looked like! My Dad also taking me to Vegas to watch Hatton v Pac for my 40th birthday. The weigh-in was awesome with all the singing and chanting between the rival fans. (I won't mention the fight for obvious reasons!) As someone already said, watching Danny Williams stand and have it out Iron Tyson, however faded he was! Being there to watch Froch batter Bute when most people (myself included) thought Bute might end his career!! That's it off the top of my head!
When I went with my father and Grandpa to watch Barrera put a spanking on Hamed after he made every body wait It was glorious This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected
going to the chicago amphitheater with all my uncles, both my grandpas and my dad when i was a kid to watch duran/leonard 1. that sealed my love for the sport. i've had many since...but that was the one for me.
Hamed looked like a ****ing rubber band every time he got hit. You can see it in Barrera's face like, "how far back can this guy's head go".
