Mental barriers. You know, lack of confidence, hesitating, doubting yourself - not being relaxed, simply not being able to focus on what you actually are able to do, but focusing on possibly failing doing it.

Mosley-Mayweather was the perfect example of this. After a good start, Mosley crumbled mentally when he realized that Mayweather was still there and would give him hell. That was the real cause of him losing so badly, much more than simply 'gassing'.

It happens to everyone of us, and also to pro fighters. They're human too after all.

Sometimes a fighter just doesnt feel right on the night.

Might have overtrained, let nerves get to him, maybe carrying a bug.Lots of things

I've always thought it was a mental/emotional issue that had physical symptoms. In other words, for some reason the fighter's mind wasn't right and he got stressed out over it.

    :rofl:rofl

I think it has to do with either an off day or something the opponent is doing that is confusing the fighter, and thus can't get relaxed. It's like when you can't get your "groove" going.

It's just an excuse. Another way of saying, "i got outclassed". They faced someone better than them and they are at a loss for words.

And also, i think as others have stated, there is a clear difference between the two terms. "I felt tight" is more of an inability to relax heading into a fight, while "I couldn't get off" usually has to do get getting outclassed.

Mosley "felt tight" and "couldn't get going" against Forrest, Wright, and Mayweather.

Gee, could it just happen to be that all 3 of them were very skilled, technical, and intelligent fighters who used the right tactics to nullify Mosley's offense?

I think it's with training. Either they peaked to early or didn't time it right. It's hard to be in-tune enough with your body.

Take the same fighter and one day he might put on a drastically different performance then say a week earlier or later even if his opponent is the exact same. It's all about timing.

That means "I don't want to give credit to the other guy because in my opinion I am still the best".

No, its not unusual. He was twitchy and described as looking 'tight' in the 1st DelaHoya fight, vs. Cotto, and many other times.

For me it was a timing issue, some guys are just harder to time.

Its all about your opponent that gets a fighter in that "i felt tight","couldn't get going" position imo.
