who the **** is talking about teaching them everything, since when a novice in his first fight needs to know everything there is to know about boxing... six months is the average for dumb mofo or ***** cats... i've seen plenty like those who go to the gym train train learn a little then brag to their friends they are boxing but when is time to spar or box they are nowhere to be seen and then come back a week or two later saying they were sick

boxing is a hard sport and you need heart and cojones and you can see who doesnt have it easily by looking at their attitude towards getting in the ring.. the ones that want to wait are the ***** ones that have no business in the ring

I had 8 months hard training before first fight. I was not scared to get in the ring and I even got couple of ass whooping from pro in sparring before my match.
It’s just that our coach decides matches and he said almost in beginning that I get match around September. Now I have two and I won both. Looking to compete in Finnish national championships in February

But maybe it’s different to start as adult than when you start in juniors. Our junior beginner had first match faster than I did and there are more junior matches hold in Finland

In Finland it’s impossible to get that many matches, in the first year at least in super heavy division.

First of all you need to train before having match and then it’s hard to find super heavy’s with similar experience here.
Also there are no competitions hold during the summer

well i agree with you because im from Puerto Rico and is the same here with heavy and super heavys, is hard to find fights for them and must of the time they end up fighting the same guys every month.. is hard to find guys to spar with also... but a heavy or super heavy if he trains hard with ten or fifteen fights ends up representing the country in international competitions when in smaller weight classes it takes a lot more

Well, I don't know for sure, but you do have to be a pretty slow learner to not be able to learn enough in a sport to be ready for a game/match within a year.

Could just be me though. I learn quicker than most.

 Quite possible after only a month or 2 of training, and the last place you wanna be spinning out about getting punched is in the ring at a show in front of loads of people. Oh and in front of a guy that is trying to take your head off!

Had my first fight about 2 months after I started training, it was supposed to be a few weeks earlier but the club show got canceled.

Puertorricane is being very blunt about it but I agree that you shouldn't wait so long to fight.

My coach usually has people with skill fight early on, his reasoning seems to be to see if they can handle it and how dedicated they are to the sport. He does care for them though, I've seen him throw in the towel 1 minute into a fight because he could see that a fighter couldn't handle it and didn't want them to get hurt.
