Corbett-Fitzsimmons rematch Jack Johnson ducking Langford It's probably been around as long as the sport.
Boxers have always been "ducked", or "avoided", due to being too risky in proportion to the financial rewards of facing them.
u mad bro? What action was more symbolic of ducking than what Bowe did? Not saying ducking isn't as old as boxing itself, but that throwing your title in the trash, that's taking it to another level.
more like the king of ducking. As a champion, he ducked his 4 best opponents. In his defense, he did beat 3 of them before he became champion
Ducking is in the eye of the beholder... People who don't like certain fighters will always claim thy ducked someone. There's generally a lot more to it than meets the eye. For instance, people who claim Lewis was a ducker are simply mad because the worst version of him beat a young, hungry Vitali Klitschko on his best night. Most people like to claim RJJ ducked a bunch of people. That's equally subjective, and mostly depends on what country the person you ask is from. Same with Floyd, Pac, and others.
good question.... bowe ducked lewis barrera & morales never wanted a big part of marquez mayweather aka the king of duckers... but when did it exactly start? I guess with tyson. a lot of heavys realy wanted 0 part of him, when he was prime coming up like a rolling stone....
I wasnt born in the 50's....and dont have much film about the old days and back in the days everybody fought everybody. it its marciano, ali or larry holmes. never heard ali doing trouble not wanting to face foreman because foreman was bigger or they couldnt come to an agreemant.
:good:good:good I'm not trying to **** on you or nothing... So don't take me as one of these boxing snobs who knows everything about everything when it comes to boxing history.
The term 'Ducking' actually comes from the much sought after bout between Middleweights Hermann Dück and his number 1 ranked challenger Fred Lansbury during 1867 where the bout was all but arranged only for Hermann Dück to pull out with only 3 days to go before the fight after claiming "he didn't fancy his chances" after watching Lansbury spar the previous day. Thus the term 'Ducking' was born. This content is protected A picture of Hermann Dück.
