Of course he said this, DUH, it's called showing the lion the bait, gave RJJ extra motivation and desire to make the fight, anyoen with half a brain could see what Calzaghe was up to. RJJ proved he has the same speed, skills, footwork etc as before, and Calzaghe made a prime RJJ look an amateur, this isn't RJJ fault, this is because Calzaghe is on another stratosphere in terms of speed and skill. Calzaghe > RJJ The end.
How does Roy still have the footwork is beyond me! Given how you bragging on how Joe did Roy...Tarver must be a ****ing superstar given he KO Roy out and dominated him in the next fight...The point still remain Jones was shot to pieces...Just because he put up a good fight against Jeff Lacy doesnt mean anything...Stop being bias and realize that Calzaghe fought a shot Roy...Everybody seems to accept that but you.
:-( That is by far the dumbest quote ive heard on this thread. How about you put the **** back in you pocket and get off of Joe's dick
There is one hell of a weird obsession with Calzaghe on these forums. He has retired get over it for god's sake. Was Lacy overrated in hindsight ( a wonderfull thing ) yes. But back when he destroyed Pemperton and Reid, had the Six Pack of the year he was the next Tyson, he was the next big thing, the saviour of American boxing. However he was a limited fighter who was promoted and matched tremendously well. Garry Shaw did dam well out of Jeff Lacy I was a casual fan back then and Lacy was odds on to beat Joe. We all know what happened. Lacy's prime ended that night.
His best wins are Manfredo and Tsypko, but neither are great wins. Believe it or not - his prime is now - he just isn't that good.
Lacy's prime was when he was a supermiddle weight world champion and looked good defending his belt. After thr Calzaghe fight everything went downhill. HBO gave him plenty of chances to redeem himself though, Lacy has a good crowdpleasing style.
When he clubbed Reid behind the head about ten times and Reid retired. Thats when the comparisons to what others had done to Reid started.
