Welterweight is the hottest division right now. Hell, welterweight has a strong claim as the strongest division historically.
Doubtful. Personally, when Floyd retires I won't ever give him a second thought. Won't be much to discuss, no great fights or dramatic moments. Certainly won't be buying his career set like I do with most greats.
If you know boxing, you have to admire his skill, but he's just not a very exciting fighter. Flash, yes. Talented, very. Exciting, not at all. He'll be top 20 though, and possibly considered the GOAT at not getting hit and defensive counter punching.
No disrespect, but I think it's ridiculous when people determine a fighter's greatness by how exciting he is. Excitement shouldn't be a factor at all because that's all objective. I find matches like Lara vs Trout exciting, Mayweather vs Canelo was exciting. But that's just me.
In order to be the greatest he would have to be the greatest in 1 decade before being consider for the greatest in I century. Floyd is not even the greatest in 1 decade.
Sport is entertainment. In a sport like boxing where you can't really judge fighters on number of titles (like golf, tennis, swimming etc), surely you have to consider excitement as a major factor. I'm a boxing purist too, but Mayweather works as little as possible sometimes meaning he is not exciting and will never be considered the GOAT.
Top 40 maybe crack the top 30 when he is gone, he's behind Pacquiao for me who is top 30, neither are in the top 20 imo and unless one of them does something very very significant won't make it either.
He will still be ahead of Pac Pac is top 60... maybe top 70.. Floyd is top 25-30.... Maybe 20! I think he has a realistic chance to hit top 10-15 by the time he retires
