Yeah that first fight was pretty damned entertaining while it lasted. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=we6jhccqE9I[/ame]
Garbage?:think How long have you been a fan of boxing? Kirk clearly wasn't garbage, he was actually a very skilled heavyweight that threw good combinations, had fast hands, and good power. The trouble was that he would never live up to his potential. His training habits weren't great.
I remember reading it in some boxing magazine in the mid-1990s. The article was about Kirk Johnson, an emerging prospect at the time. If I'm not mistaken, the article said Johnson floored Purrity twice.
:think I would love to see a copy of this article, but it would probably be difficult to find unless you remember what magazine and what issue/year. Let me know if you ever come across it.
Actually he weighed in at 248 for his last fight, which is too much obviously, but it is still better than the what, 260 that he weighed in for the Vitali Klitchsko fight? He has a lot of work ahead of him, but if he sheds the weight, I personally think he can become relevant in heavyweight boxing again.
Johnson had a fight scheduled for the end of June in Atlanta on a Paulie Ayala promoted card. But it was cancelled. Not sure when Johnson's next fight will be. Hopefully soon! :bbb
No, no chance he'll be anywhere near relevant again. Throw him in the pile with Tua, Briggs, McCall..... In any case, Vitali is still here....ready to harpoon that whale again if need be. Kirk just fights too pay his running tab at the Tim Horton's.
