When would Buffer announce subs and ko in the pro record?

Well, I know this might not be a big deal but for me, there's a certain mystique knowing what percentage of wins from a fighter i'm watching is actually a ko artist or submission specialist.

As a boxing fan, hearing someone who has say 30 wins and 28 KO's without a loss makes me all the more excited. But watching MMA, having a (UFC standard) 13-0 record is impressive but gives no clue on what the guy can do.

As you follow a sport closely, you'll have a better understanding of how a certain fighter does his business. Anderson and JDS will stop people with strikes, Maia and Mir submits opponents.

Wouldn't it be best like for example, they announce the subs and ko wins much like they do in strikeforce?

Rogan and Goldy normally do that during the ring walk

It would be much better if Buffer said nothing at all. Any time that man speaks i press mute.

I wish they would get rid of the "This man is a boxer" or "This man is a mixed martial artist" part of the announcement.

That's from the early days. Not sure why it matters now as fighters don't hail from particular disciplines anymore.

Exactly. It should be assumed that everyone is a mixed martial artist at this point.

I think it's more to do with their base fella. For example Maia is a BJJ fighter, Reem is a kickboxer, Davis is a wrestler and so on.

Yeah, I still find it unnecessary.

The UFC can say what it likes. But to be fair it doesn't matter. Davis's background is amateur. Likewise Overeem's background started in Judo and mixed martial arts. He was never primarily a kickboxer until his recent stint with GG/K-1.
This is/was definitely a throw back to when it was discipline vs discipline. But it doesn't matter any more as MMA is like the new 'Jeet Kun Do'. Its a mish mash of various styles with fighters rarely hailing from one discipline any more.

I used to like it back in the day. But as the UFC progressed it just got stupid. I remember them announcing Franklin as a 'freestyle' fighter. I mean WTF is a 'free style' fighter?! Likewise Tank was introduced as a 'pit fighter'. It was probably more to do with a marketing gimmick/push than any real practical reason as the years wore on.

Well I dont see the problem with it personally, guys are proud of their backgrounds in various disciplines

It's still pretty rare for a guy to walk into a MMA gym without any training in either stand up or wrestling/jits ect

Yea most fighters are proud if they represent one martial art or are very good in it. Minotauro for example, he had Mir almost beaten but wanted to submitt him because he sees himself as a BJJ fighter
