I don't believe in PPV. I think it's detrimental to the sport. We'd have bigger shows if boxing wasn't confined to the ridiculous slots it currently occupies. If boxing was on terrestrial tv more often and covered to a good standard, BBC, ITV etc then it would make British world champs massive stars. But they need to fight regularly on a big TV channel to give them the opportunity to become stars. Once they're stars then advertisers will be chomping at the bit to advertise during fights and there will be plenty of money for everyone and the popularity of the sport will go up leading to bigger and more frequent shows at bigger venues. It's really not that difficult. The problem at the moment is that Eddie has such a vested interest in Sky's success he doesn't want boxing on free to air channels. I mean he even resents fights being on regular sky.

I stopped going to fights for a while in the 90s and 2000s because of all the HW debacles. Tysons 30 second fights. Rid**** Bowe and Holyfields riots after fights. It just got stupid. so if I'm going to stop buying PPV's it's due to the HW division...
I think four PPVs is about the limit of varying quality. Sky are certainly in a worse position than they were in a year ago via the Premier League rights deal where they almost certainly overspent. Boxnation aren't in great shape either mind- being outbid for overseas cards by Channel Five/Spike TV doesn't exactly fill it's subscribers with confidence. I'd love to see ITV get back involved in boxing and with rights fees currently not that extortionate it could well happen with the money saved from the Champions League rights. I'd also like to see the BBC screen amateur boxing outside of the major championships.
