I remember while Lewis and Bowe shared the titles in the early 90`s and Colin Hart wrote and article in The Sun newspaper about Savage saying how he would batter the hell out of Lewis and Bowe! Hart is the worst pundit in boxing I`d say.

These bare knuckle fighters have to be the biggest bunch of Walter Mitty's going around. Their records are inflated or unverified, their reputation out of all proportion to their ability yet people seem all too willing to take their bullsh1t at face value (or at least buy their books).

I've read Lenny McLeans bio (yep I was one of those suckers too in my youth) and he talks of flying to America and bashing up the American Mafia's bareknuckle champ or some drivel , and beating up armed thugs, diamond geezers and smashing Roy Shaw. Didn't mention getting his sh1t pushed in twice by John Waldron and Cliff Field respectively though.

Savage might be a nice bloke and tough but I've seen blokes from my home town who would flog him in a fight based on what he produced against Smokin Bert. He couldn't even shape up properly FFS!

The guy was a master self-promoter. He made all the U.S Weston boxing mags with glowing self-gloss and imposing pics and even got a guest appearance on David Letterman. From watching the "Fight" against Cooper, it looks like he never threw a punch in anger before lacing up that day. 90% of us on this forum would've looked more professional just by being fans and emulating what we see on TV as far as stance and balance. My favorite part was how Savage "got angry" after coming to in his corner and had to be "held back" from going after Cooper. Just a goof all around.
