Or Bryant Jennings, who isn't even a puncher. It will be interesting to see how he handles Wilder, assuming Wilder doesn't have to fight Povetkin first and loses to him. He definitely looks more tentative than he used to.
It was a fairly even fight. However a lot of that may have been because of the substance that got in Ali's eyes too. Still, neither fight was exactly what I would call decisive.
Well, the first was pretty decisive IMO, when you consider the ointment, and how it unfolded after Liston realized that neither intimidation nor liniment were going to get the job done. The second was even more decisive, but for a fairly major asterisk regarding the legitimacy of the KO (dive ?). Either way, I don't think there's much doubt as to who was better.
I noticed alot of people are putting Wlad as a top 5 ATG heavyweiight why is that? As for Holmes hes probably somewhere in the bottom top 10
Agreed. He's been knocked out by class B fighters on three occasions and has dominated a relatively weak era. Top 20 all time maybe, top 5 no.
Pretty simple for me....I don't think there's 5 other heavies in history that make it through his record 64-3 or better.
I do. Foreman, Ali, Holmes, Lewis, and Louis all just off the top of my head. Unlikely any of those guys lose to three guys the caliber of Brewster, Purrity, or Sanders. One or two maybe, but not three. And all of them plow through all Wlad's opponents of the last ten years with little difficulty. David Haye prime and healthy might give those five some problems, and maybe Alexander Povetkin as well. Other than that none of them would be troubled by any of Wlad's opponents in recent years. Wlad is definitely top 20 of all time, MAYBE top 10, top 5? No.
Wlad has the greatest longetvity Of any career heavy In boxing history None you named Could do the same All on decline By the age of 30 Before win 50 Losing to lesser Losing to smaller
Longevity can be greatly aided by poor competition. Plus fighters today have a lot more available to them as far as nutrition and technology to keep them going longer. It doesn't make Wlad a top 5 all time HW. He is undoubtedly a great fighter, but I don't think he is top 5.
Competition like Spinks Leon the novice Aging light heavy Jinx Would Jimmy End the run Maybe less activity Like Lenny Decrease fights By twenty Oh how sad you credit Everything but Wlad No nobody Personally Responsible for Longetvity Could happen To any Just lucky
