Hm, he certainly was good enough to give any mw fits, his resume was good, he fought in a stacked division, but he never was the champ, he won a fraction of the title but not the title itself. The highest you could rank him is in the lower part of the Top10.

Freddie said his best fighting weight was in the low 150s.
Both Fred Apostoli and Gorilla Jones called him the best they fought. A hellva statistic for any fighter.
As good as he got i believe he would have been even better had he not turned pro as a 12 yr old.

    The Ring is a joke.

Call it sour buddy, but ALOT of guys here hold modern fighters in such low regard. I don't know if it's because their nostalgic or if they have a mis guided conception of Modern Boxing and refuse to acknowlege what's infront of them, but either way; it's there.

(I'll go back to being chirpy soon, but this annoys me :D:twisted:)

    They do not. :tong

Check lufcrazy's H2H thread. Floyd, Roy, Pernell all got plenty of love in there. Fair admission of their abilities, I'd say.

Hopkins would be beat by hundreds of middleweights & light-heavies through the long, long years of boxing history, especially the L-HWs, which IS what he is and always has been!

That's the blessing. If you ever needed to know why, visit the General Forum to see the opinions of many within my age group.

I'm one of the biggest Monzon supporters on this Forum, red cobra.
