You know I'm wondering . When did they change the laws in the US ?? It used to be " A man is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law" Now it seems to be " Youre guilty just because we say you are" Examples.... Antonio Margarito.... No proof was found that he tried to load his gloves But the CSAC state " We believe he may have tried to or done it in the past so we'll convict him anyway & take away his boxing licence ruin his career & tarnish his good name He NEVER was indicted . That's a kangaroo court Ike Ibeabuchi.... They didn't have sufficient evidence to convict him of sexual assault so they kept him in jail for months all the while badgering him to plead no contest. He eventually capitulated & look what happened that judge gave him the max sentence 5-30 years Now be honest Was either of proven guilty in a court of law ?? NO!!!! was that American Justice ???????
Without trying to get political, in terms of Ibeabuchi, yeah, that often is American justice, particularly for a man who can be identified as violent just by nature of his career. History is replete with examples of this.
If they can find him and really wanted to, they could make some money for him and off him yet. They could just revive the Larry Holmes seniors title idea. They could have Ike vs Shannon Briggs for the inaugural belt, and when he wins that, they could start ringing the phones of guys 45 and over to see who might want to fight. He would have his title reign now against guys of comparable age.
Ike had MULTIPLE complaints of sexual assault, not just the incident that landed him jail and sorry to say, there was an all out investigation that CONCLUDED that he attempted a murder suicide with that 15 year old who btw had numerous injuries and now a permeant walking disability ... least not forget Ike pleaded guilty in that case heres a hint if your famous and have money.... keep your dumb ass out of ***** houses and you wouldnt be put into these kinds of situations in the first place. stop making excuses for the guy like he was just a big misunderstood lovable teddy bear lmao
Ike suddenly had those " multiple" complaints pop up after the one he was wrongly convicted of. Were any of them substantiated ?? NO not one!!!! Was Ike indicted , tried & convicted of attempted **** ? No!! They kept him in jail for months, heavily sedated, all the while badgering him to cop a plea & promised he'd be out in 6 months fighting again. They didn't have enough evidence to charge him only He said, she said . No one was hurt the woman was not touched. He eventually Plead No Contest though always claimed Not Guilty That's when that judge ignored that & gave him the max sentence 5-30 years.. Is that your idea of US JUSTICE !!?? It sure isn't mine See your comment " He should have kept out of *****houses. ?? The hookers claim was " I only came to dance for him " ROFL Yeah right Why wasn't she cited for obvious attempted prostitution ?? No one ever claimed Ike was a "teddy bear" but neither was he the evil monster you Know alls claim Ike needed medical treatment not imprisonment under heavy sedation for months . You'd suffer mentally too after that . The trouble was All they saw in IKE was a way of making $$$$$$$$$ No one , except the late great Curtis Cokes, cared about him & his mental welfare. Like now all folk are saying is Let him fight again to make us more $$$$$$$$. Don't make silly claims about things you know nothing about OK
just stop dude after he was arrested for assaulting the escort in Vegas the DA reopened another case and those allegations came 8 months earlier. he was supposed to be released on house arrest, but was remanded because two more allegations popped up out of Arizona. SO NO, not all of these allegations just started surfacing as soon as he was arrested on one assault charge. and yes, he was force medicated because the state is responsible for ones health and safety while in their custody. During that period he was deemed unfit to stand trial. Once he was examined and found fit to stand trial they brought him back to the court to stand trial. An injustice would have been to completely cover up his mental ailment and force him in front of a jury without any treatment. Also, he didnt plead no contest, he took an Alford plea, which is simply submitting a guilty plea without uttering the words "im guilty" they appealed the vegas charges and the Nevada supreme court overturned his conviction and set him free based on his accomplishments while incarcerated... seems pretty damn fair to me ike was in the position he was in because he put himself there... the cracks in the justice system is no reason to stop holding people accountable for their own actions PERIOD!!!! dont want to get jammed up by some escort? dont hire one dont want drug charges? dont do drugs dont want a dui? dont drink and drive dont want to be labeled crazy? dont falsely imprison kids and drive into pillars /done
Have you ever met the guy ?? No I knew him from the time he walked into Curtis Cokes Home of Champions gym in Dallas Tx fresh here from Nigeria. Saw him on a regular basis the whole time he was with Curtis. Ike was no angel that's for sure but in no way did he deserve the treatment he got either. Ike obviously had mental problems but imprisoning him under heavy sedation , because they were afraid of what he might do, was never going to help him I only hope wherever he is someone is doing the right thing to help him. All they wanted him for in boxing was to make $$$$$$$$$$ off of him , not that he needed help. The great Curtis Cokes was the one Ike listened to & trusted
LOL Hardly !!! Just I knew the guy while he was in Dallas & think overall he had a pretty bum deal. They all knew his problems but al they all saw was $$$$$$ . Only one man helped him Curtis Cokes. What happened was really a tragedy for both I still believe Ike was capable of being the successor to Lennox Lewis if he could have held it together. As for Curtis its every trainers dream to train the World Heavyweight Champ, he had Ike ready Plus he had Kirk Johnson robbed of the WBA title by John Ruiz & Joe Cortez. Ruiz should have had an oscar for his acting & Cortez backing him up. .. That would have been the icing on the cake for Curtis career A great Champion & a Great Trainer plus being one of boxing's really good guys R.I.P. Champ
When it comes to Ike it boils down to this: he was an exceptional talent who could have gone all the way in the division but he was mentally ill and did a lot of bad **** that derailed his entire life.
