It's interesting you should say that...a recent quote from VITKLIT follows...

"I promise for everyone the fight will be very interesting and emotional. And I promise I will give all my best to make history in boxing. All my best to take my belt back. I wish for everyone to take a lot of emotions from the fight. But this fight between two biggest punchers in present times will be very, very interesting."

I guess to you, VITKLIT is a dumbass and knows nothing...???

Get the **** out of here, I made you look bad on so many threads it aint even funny, it's pretty sad when I know more about your favorite fighter than you do.

As far as Sam Peter being the most dangerous fighter, I'm obviously not the only one that thinks that, Manny Steward himself believes that Peter is the hardest puncher in the division as well, he made the comment during the Peter/Maskaev fight, watch it again if you dont believe me.

    Lets be realistic here.

Vitali is 36. That is not young by any means, but for HW standards, it is not senile either. It is tail end of HW career type age. But not old.

Plus, he will be returning to fight a guy who, is no bum, but far from World class either. Sam Peter is a plodder, has little skill, overrated power, is slow, one dimensional. Plus he has been shown to have a less than Iron Chin. Compared to ten years ago, he is a very poor beltholder.

Prime for Prime, I am sure everybody would predict a Vitali whitewash. The only impressive thing about this potential scenario is the layoff. 4 years is a long, long time to be out of a boxing ring, its true.

Yet still. Still. Vitali is the favourite in this fight. And I think taht sums it up really. Its a case of a Good fighter returning after a long layoff to fight a pretty ordinary fighter to pick up a belt. Which aint historic.

I give it a 7.5. It is a good comeback, but he WILL start favourite, the opponent is NOT that good, and it is for a PAPER TITLE.

If he was coming back and fighting for the 'main man' status, ie Wlad, it would be an 8. If he was coming back for a TRUE championship, it would be a 9.

Golota beat Ruiz and Byrd in title fights at 36+, unless you are a hugger or delusional.

i was undecided between 7 and 8, and was gonna vote 8, but then your corny ass "note to the haters" comment pushed me to vote 7.

I am a huge Vitaly fan, but who the **** is Sam Peter? Sam Peter is nothing in the history of the heavyweight division.

He is the WBC HW Champion, and he is currrently part of the present of HW boxing...not it's history.

It would be VITKLIT's best win if he can pull it off.

Yea sure it would be a good win, and not saying that it isn't, but i'm saying that regarding to the topic of the thread, it wouldn't be on that epic level.

Wlad is very strong mentally. He did what he think it is the best and this shows how strong he is.

Golota did not win the fights, and was not off for 3+ years.

I think old Joe Louis KO's Peter.

I agree with you that this is prime Sam Peter, but do you see my point? Look, this is crude but it is probably something like my thinking.

Say, in terms of conditioning, fitness, memory, Vitali Klistchko needs to come in with a 6/10 in these departments to win the fight. If he comes in at a 5 he would lose, if he came in at a 9 it would be an easy victory. That's the ONLY factor here. The ONLY factor is, how much does Vitali have left of his peak ability as a %? Because if he's got enogh he will win, if he doesn't have enough, he will not win.

Some people would have believed, in the run up to Hagler-Leonard that NO VERSION OF LEONARD would EVER have beaten ANY VERSION OF HAGLER. To small. Hagler to good a big man.

Here, it is the opposite. The ONLY WAY Peter beats Vitali is if Vitali is not fit/conditioned/composed enough to win. That's it. That's all. He is better he is the better man. Winning in these circumstances is only impressive because of the lay off, and that WOULD be impressive.

There is still room to make the higher numbers on your scale viable, but that will be down to the manner of the win - a 7 round domination ending with Peter being withdrawn because of accumilation would be a ten, for example.

Sorry McGrain, but the old Joe Louis had but 4 Ko's in his last ten fights. His power was gone. Marciano himself said he was surprised how little power Louis had that night. His speed and timing were not what they once were either. Peter would KO the old Joe Louis too.

I do think the age and layoff are significant historically speaking. Combined the two have spelled defeat for MANY hall of fame fighters. Vitlai is up against age, a long layoff, and some injuries. It has never been done at his age.

Peter is vulnerable. But you may be right.

Yes, you are right, but the bottom line stays the same - we've agreed that the issue is slightly more complex (breathing, composure etc.) but the easiest way to express it is to say, if Vitali has enough gas, he wins.

That's not a circumstance that allows the type of praise you want to lavish in my honest opinion.

Having given it some though, i've voted 7. The dilligance required to get back to the required level for the win is impressive, and regardless of how good he is, Peter seems to be the near-universal choice for #2 (i think Chagaev is better, and Povetkin probably already is although he hasn't proven it yet) and that is not joke.
