he would have to be a complete idiot to not realize that clottey is very durable and can take a punch. i'm sure he won't just go straight after a KO, but i do agree that would be pretty damn exciting.

i was thinking the same thing. he looked good in the final stages of the mosley fight. of course he didn't look that great in comparison to mosley but come on, mosley is a seasoned veteran who ALWAYS looks good all the way through.

I think he defintely dug deep and performed very well late against Mosley. The fight with Zab was good, but Zab also tires towards the end (much worse than Cotto) so it's hard to gauge this one - Zab was drained at he end, and the low blows may have taken a little extra out of him. Cotto did well against Malanaggi as well. But when comparing Clottey's and Cotto's performance towards the end of fights, I give the stamina edge to Clottey. Over the past couple of years most of his fights have gone the distance.

Clotty's had his issues as well, Guiterrez, Baldo, Margo...couldn't really push the envelope against a shot to **** Corrales. Its quite intresting when you think about it because josh seems to fight as reserved as possible calculating and picking his attack as carefully as possible. If josh can't impose his will he loses, he's not going to outbox cotto and if he choses to trade consistantly he will be countered, clotty exposes himself as much as any fighter I've seen when he's on the attack yes his punches look crisp, fast and hard but they are also extremely deliberate and his body and head are always open because of his straight posture, he's uncomfortable when he's forced out of his pace and does not possess the kind of versitility needed to defeat a fighter that will either not wilt to his attack or force him to re-tool his offense. One of the reasons why cotto can choose to simply outbox him is because even if clotty huts cotto he has no clue as to how to cut off the ring ala shimone alvarez fight. Clotty never created angles to cut the ring off which would have left shimone little room to operate and would have eventually had him stopped mid rounds. Clotty kept trucking and lunging forward at times looking frustrated because again he hardly has a plan B. Well we will see what happens sat.

The reason why there arent a hundred different threads on the topic is that both fighters are well rounded and have no obvious weakness plus they are evenly matched. In short, theres no X factor to the fight, e.g pacquiao moving up a weight (issues: chin, strength power speed vs bigger fighter) or mayweather marquez (issues: chin, strength, power, speed vs bigger fighter).

Basically this forum concentrates on fights were there are lots of intangibles to debate. Cotto vs Clottey has very few intangibles. Cotto is a savage punching boxer whos only loss is clouded in suspicion. Clottey is durable tough SOB who has never been dominated and has a way of slowly punishing fighters. This is a great fight so theres no room for hype.

All you Cotto haters are full of ****. Cotto ain't scared of nobody. He has fought tougher fighter than both PBF and Williams have at welter. Cotto is a real fighter and he's proving that once again by taking on a tough ass fighter like Clottey, who Williams didn't have the nuts to take on.

Its fans like you that really need to be quiet...At least Clottey was man enought to step up to the plate with Williams.

Get your facts straight...HBO didnt want to air the fight so you can stop saying that Williams was scared of Clottey because he wasnt....Why didnt Cotto want to fight Williams after he beat Margorito since you want to go there?

What the ****? This is a forum motha****a, I'll say whatever I want. Paul Williams is a good fighter but most of his talk that everybody is scared of him is bull****. He has has only fought Margarito and Winky and a lot of his fans are making him out to be an ATG already or some ****.

Does the fact that Clottey went 12 with Margo and Cotto could not have any bearing on the fight to you guys?

That further proves my point that Williams didnt duck Clottey or vice versa. Thanks for the correction.:good
