Who should Anderson fight next ? Okami ? (here is what happened in their first fight btw)... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StYulH-yKsk[/ame] Clearly , Anderson was doing his usual thing & dominated the first few minutes of the fight , sadly...as soon as Okami had Anderson where he wanted...Silva landed an illegal strike to his face. ( who knows what would've happened without this kick to the face...btw is this kick legal under ufc rules ? ) Considering how dominant Okami is today...this is an interesting match up. Sonnen ? Why not have an instant rematch ? especially after the crazy outcome of their first epic fight.... Belfort ?....His best weapon would be his striking , i believe he's faster than anderson , however , he's not as complete as Silva...and he's also quite inconsistent...But very capable on his best day.
Immediate rematch for Sonnen! I actually think Belfort has a good, very good, shot at knocking Anderson out though. Man Anderson has some serious challenges in front of him right now! There is always the threat of GSP too! after seeing the fight Saturday, Team GSP may want this fight sooner rather than later.
I don't think that kick is legal in the UFC.. I could be wrong. After a Sonnen rematch we should have no more lingering questions. Make Okami fight Belfort for the next title shot in the meantime.
Only two fights make sense imo. Either a Sonnen rematch, or a superfight with GSP. Sonnen fully deserves a rematch imo. For starters no one else qualifies for a title shot. Sonnen was doing extremely well in the fight and dominating, coming very close to winning. If not for the closeness of the fight, Sonnen should get the shot because he's the only one who has earned it. Other than that a superfight with GSP is the next best thing. Well actually it is the fight everyone wants to see. And I think it needs to happen sooner rather than later. At 35, and with increasingly shite performances, Silva has not got too long to go or shouldn't have. They should make the fight now while both are at the peak of their powers. The other two there do not deserve a shot. Then again neither did Leites, Cote and to a lesser extent Maia. Belfort has never beaten a top 10 Middleweight and hasn't fought at the weight in the UFC. Whether he has a chance to win or not is another matter. A win over Munoz doesn't qualify Okami for a title shot.
Vitor Belfort is the choice for me. I dont give a **** how good Sonnen did Saturday night he was the challenger and got tapped out he didnt lose a BS decision like Shogun he tapped out now he has to fight his way back to a title shot.
Yep, I want Belfort as well, it would be nice to see Anderson fight somebody that will stand with him.
Am I hating on Belfort? I honestly can't tell, but I just don't think he is that good. I get the feeling I should, he has done some nice things lately, but I just don't trust him. Convince me, give me recent highlights, something like that
Trust me Silva would kill Vitor, and again, I would love for Vitor to win. After the fortitude Silva showed Saturday and knowing Belforts history. This may be the end for the phenom. At this point if not GSP, Silva should move up to 205. He is a huge 185'r
Vitor put Matt Lindland to sleep who was in virtually everyones top 5 at 185 and a few even ranked him as number 1 in the world. Rich Franklin was a long time Middleweight Champion and Vitor knocked him out cold. Why do you argue Vitor doesnt deserve a title shot because he has never fought at 185 in the UFC yet you wanna see a fight with GSP-Silva at 185 ?
It should be Sonnen. I don't think he is talented enough to adapt as much the second time round. He fought the fight he could. Silva will be better prepared, the talk might not work as much, he will need to find new angles with which to get in his head. Sonnen needed to stall more but if he does that it might get stood up and to be honest, standing is still dangerous for him even though he ****ed Silva up.
Matt Lindland sure as hell was not a top 5 middleweight in the world in 2009 when Belfort beat him. Maybe 5 or 6 years ago but not then. The Franklin fight was in a diferent weightclass. While I realise the hypocrisy in my statement considering that GSP hasn't fought at 185, there is a massive difference between GSP and Vitor here. GSP is p4p 1 or 2, possibly the best welterweight of all time, has cleared out his weightclass and a fight between him and Silva would be one of the biggest fights in the history of the sport. Meanwhile Belfort is overrated. The guy has talent no doubt, but he has underachieved throughout his career and really is pushed because he is liked so much by nostalgic fans who wish he could pull out some KOs he produced early in his career when he looked like he was going places. Personally I just feel that Belfort should at least beat a top 10 middleweight at the very least before he gets a title shot. I suppose in that sense I prefer the old school of thought, where you actually earn a shot. This should be happening anyway. I read somewhere that Belfort may be fighting at UFC 122, so a fight against a ranked MW is likely. Speaking of which, another fighter who could be throwing himself in the mix is Rousimar Palhares. Toquinho has a fight with Marquardt lined up. He beats Nate, he could be one of the next in line imo.
