Pacquiao has faster hands, he will no doubt come out on top of exchanges. Cotto wont exchange, he will be sharp and careful and make Pac pay for his aggression. If Cotto gets hurt it will be in an exhange.

Cotto can fight going forwards or backwards and has beaten speedy guys like Judah and Mosely. There is no way Pac hits as hard as Sugar Shane and can't be that much faster. By virtue of being a more complete fighter with wins over better welterweight competition, Cotto is my guy.

You are correct about the Hatton fight. I think if you look at it objectively the Hatton fight tells you everything you need to know about this fight. Also some of the shots that Hatton was getting hit with didn't seem that bad but clearly they were having a huge affect. They are just so fast that they don't have to be big booming shots to rattle your brain.

The second Key example of Manny's punching power was the body shot that he hit Hatton with late in the second round. It was completely debilitating. To the point where if the fight had gone longer and he had landed a few more of those he probably would have ended the fight on body shots.

Cotto simply doesn't have the same kind of shocking power like this. His Job will be to minimize Manny's power by being tight defensively and not letting Manny have enough room to get that kind of torque on his shots.

The second key observation from the Hatton fight that relates to tomorrow night's fight is the fact that Manny can't actually take very many shots from a true welterwieght. In the second round of the Hatton fight Hatton nailed Manny with a good straight right hand shot that stopped Manny in his tracks. It did hurt manny and you could tell that if Manny had to take a lot of those type of shots he wouldn't win the contest. He might not get knocked out by them but it clearly affected him.

My analysis of this fight is that neither man will be able to take the other man's shots for very long. And that if one fighter starts landing more then 10 punches per round it'll mean the other guy is in deep ****. Given the general predispositions of both fighters I'd be shocked if this fight goes beyond 6 rounds. Both fighters will come out trying to minimize the action and the first one or two rounds might not have a lot of action. It won't matter. The second one guy starts landing the other will know he's in **** and turn it into a war. And it won't last long after that. My prediction is a Pacquiao win because he's much faster, more accurate, and is more balls out then Cotto. He may or may not have more power then Cotto but that's irrelevant. What matters is that he has enough power to knock Cotto out if he gets him hurt.

Yea I think most of our questions will be figured by the first round. Who can handle whose power and whose able to land more accurately on each other. Manny starts so fast so I'll find it hard for Cotto to turn that around if he gets started.

I agree with everyyhing but the split decision part. Pac has to win in dominant fashion. A split D means a close fight were both guys are landing with regularity. Pac cant afford to take to many shots from Cotto.

I cant believe how some people are buying into the hype that Pac is the best fighter Cotto will have faced. Cotto wont be shown anything by pac that should totaly through him off. The truth is he has been in the ring with far more dangerous opponents.

That's not a bad writeup at all O. I think you may be underrating the durability of both men slightly, but there's also the live possibility that these two start doing serious damage to each other very early on.

Something to consider in that case is that while we've seen Cotto in survival mode, we've never really seen Manny hurt badly in a big fight. You mentioned a few clean shots he got tagged with, but I haven't seen him stunned to the point of almost needing to hang on since Larios cracked him with a good one. If Cotto catches him with a perfect shot, it will be REALLY interesting to see how Manny reacts. And I don't mean a "haha you hit me, I'll do a jumping jack" kind of shot, I mean something that really stuns him.

Manny is just not the type of fighter to say no to a brawl...He boxed against Oscar because he could, had Oscar been able to mount an attack Pac would have put his hands up and returned the favour. People thought Pac was gonna try outbox Hatton as hatton was the much bigger stronger guy with a killer left hook to the body(sound familliar?) but when hatton got to him, Pac's instincts were immediately to go into a streetfight.

If Pac is to get a ko then it's gotta be in first 4, the longer it goes the more I favour Cotto
