Tony Zale actually had a fight against Billy Pryor in Aug of 1941 which had (or still has...I don't quite trust wikipedia articles, as my sources say Chavez/Haugen had 132,247, which makes it the highest paid attendance in U.S. history) the record with it being officially announced at 135,132 and put into the record book as such, although that was a free show put on in Milwaukee for charity.

I second this. Fights in this era routinely got close to 100,000 people. I have hardly heard of this in the last 50 years, or so. Look at boxrec and some of the old time heavyweight fights, they usually have attendence.

    examples:

Dempsey vs. Tunney 120,557 at the Polo Grounds
Dempsey vs. Carpentier 80,183, Jersey City

    Its EASILY Ali!!!!

Go back and do some research on Ali - Frazier 1....about 20,000 saw it live...but they estimate about 300 MILLION saw it on TV!!!!

    300 MILLION!!!!

Put that in PPV perspective at about $50 a pop....

Tyson is second, with DLH third....but they are FAAAAAAAAAAAAAR behind Ali. Gotta do the research guys!

Who was the biggest draw in boxing (as indicated in the poll) ???

Goddamit . . . you people should know better. Very Disappointing. :-(

Who is the only fighter who had fought all around U.S. and sold out all tickets in his fights?

Who is the fighter who has fought in London, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, Indonesia, Conggo, Malaysia, Philippines, Puerto Rico and Bahamas and still sold out all the tickets of his fights?

    Ali !

    . . . and nobody comes close.:hey

I think Hatton sells more tickets and PPV's than anybody.

I understand there were 2m PPV sales for the Mayweather fight from a UK population of 70m - so that is 1 in 35 homes. And as Brits are a tight lot, there were many people going round to each other's houses to watch it, so I would wager you that 1 in 10 actually saw it. What would be the US equivalent??

I thought it was dempsey v tunney had the largest live gate but as stated elsewhere I beleive Ali v Fraziuer I was the most watched .

Although if those number on the Chavez fight are correct I guess that gets it
