Bruh I feel like Crawford gets so discredited on here. Spence had the win of career before their fight but now apparently he was basically a ****ing zombie. Canelo was seen as the bigger man with all the experience in the division and was gonna ko Crawford but now Canelo was on his way to the old folks homes after Crawford beat him. Same old ****.

What exactly are the Tyson excuses? Being out of shape for Douglas and increasingly more past his prime post prison as the “most” excuses sounds more like twaddle from butthurt haters than a lot of excuses.

The excuses made for the Desiree Washington case are low but I don’t think that’s what we’re talking about.

The thread isn’t about sympathy. It’s about the tally of excuses. Tyson’s number is at two or possibly three if you separate the “bite fight” from a continuum of worsening and often erratic performances due to being past it.

I’ve been guilty of it myself. It’s very easy to fall into the trap of making excuses for a subpar performance when it’s a favourite fighter. I love Duran, it took me some time to admit that sometimes he just s**t the bed. A lot of people make excuses for him, but I think he should own his losses with his wins up until perhaps Joppy fight as he was way too old.
Toney gets a lot of excuses too. I’m a fan, but realistically he could sometimes really not give a damn, and he clearly gave no serious thought to watching his weight.
Some boxers who transcend the sport to a degree, like Pacquiao, get a lot too.
For all fighters sometimes the other guy is better on a given night. It’s not because Duran had a bad night that Benitez beat him, it’s because at 154, on that night, Wilfred fought a much better fight.
Toney has a lot of great qualities but excuses aside, Roy was just better head to head and would likely win almost every time.
Vitali’s fans can also be a bit tiring regarding the Lewis and Byrd fights.
I can be guilty of dismissing legit excuses when I don’t care for the fighter so I won’t go into that.

He makes his own excuses as well. And they are whoppers.

When men start acting as if a woman of Desiree’s caliber would never show up in the middle of the night at man’s place for something other than penetrative sex, it tells me all I need to know about their experience level with women.

With Tyson I'm just talking about fans saying that Tysons prime ended in his early 20s. Despite going to prison 5 years and not losing for years after.

Boxing fans and authorities don't really care about scandals whether they are serious or not. In any era. For better and worse nothing inconsistant about Tysons redemption.

She was a legit model, she had been around way higher status men than Mike Tyson and didn't have sex with them.

Also Mike said in a propaganda piece doc that she lied on him, which was rather pathetic from him and showed that he still has that evil, like their was a mountain of evidence and he sits there saying she lied?

Yeah, I believe he has sociopathic traits and is willing to say anything that works in his favor. He didn’t choose to be halfway to a sociopath if not all the way, but that’s a different discussion. He at least seems to know not to harm others now, even if the motive is to make his life easier rather than out of genuine concern.

It always seemed to me that for some reason that small weight jump for both Carlos and Wilfredo really sapped something from them. No excuses, they just weren’t as great 1 division up. No excuses necessary but I guess they have to justify it to themselves.
