Thanks, I'll have to look him up and check out what he does.

Most ESBers **** on Hatton but he showed some things on Smitty's interview that I like:

Cheers, I'll have to find a swingball set.

Donaire is a little too difficult to emulate IMO. His anticipation and punching technique is partly practiced technique and mostly talent.

Yup. . . I remember you saying earlier how rare it is to see a guy actually cut the ring off, rather than just blindly follow the other boxer around the ring - round, after round, after round. . .

Same with committed body punchers. . . Who would you say is the best committed body puncher (or has a tendency to be) in the game today?

Cotto used to have a tendency to commit to the body, but he seemed to have abandoned that somewhat. . .

Changing the subject temporarily to touch on this: I think Cotto could give Mayweather some trouble if he does all those aforementioned (cut the ring off, throw off Mayweather's timing with feints, and commit to the body). . . Of course it's one thing to talk about doing it, and another thing to actually find success against a guy like Floyd. . . But that should definitely be a key component going in. . I think Pedro knows this.

Great video man! I definitely need to learn inside techniques because I'm so vulnerable on the inside. . . I'm going to start working on that changing angles on the inside, stepping around, and slamming taht left hook right in the pit of the stomach between the elbows! Hahah, my friend's not gonna know what hit him, cause he always expects me to just tie up on the inside, or just keep my guard up, until I can move away. . .

Damn, I miss Hatton man. . . He was so much better than he gets credit for. . . But I guess if his heart's not in it anymore, then he made the right choice to go ahead and start enjoying the rest of his life at such a young age. . .

Yup! I'm shite at body punching on the inside, but I like the 1-2-hook/uppercut hybrid, "HOOKER-CUT" to the body (got that from Marquez). . .

Or my best body shot is that straight right... Got that from Danny Green! Calls it the "heart-stopper"! Since my arms are so long, I can really generate some torque on it. . . Set it up with a double jab. . . Then throw a few 1-2's, 1-2-hook-2's upstairs to get them just focusing on the head shots. . Then BOOM! Lead straight right to the body-piece!

What I noticed with Hatton (if you watch him training with Graham) Watch his feet. Watch the steps he takes when he has an opponent against the ropes and throws body punches, he opens up the other guys body amazingly well. Some guys here don't appreciate him; and they DKSAB. :bart

I have an entire thread showing my game plan for Cotto to fight Mayweather :hey Brilliant discussion actually, serious posters talking serious Boxing. Not everyone agress with everything I said, and that's the beauty of Boxing.

We don't really have a fighter who goes to the body! 140lb Cotto was a beast as that.

I'm trying to think  Marquez can do it when he has too, Rios is okay too when he's healthy. It's really thin though I'm sure there's some in the lower weights.

Edit : Lucian Bute is very good. Though not as focussed on the body as he could be.

I agree, thats one thing even Chavez Sr doesn't do (or doesn't need to), in that Hatton is able to maneuver his opponent and himself to open up for his bodyshots. Its pretty intricate and requires years of practice to pull off in a real fight, but well worth it.

Thing about going to the body with Floyd is that his arms are always in good position. The way RJJ sets up the bodyshot is to feint to the head first and then go to the body, which I think is the only way to have moderate success attacking the shoulder roll style. A loose relaxed speedy outside style like Roy would be successful against Floyd IMO.

I'm tall and love both of those shots myself.

Man, I can't wait to get back in the gym.

Vitali mostly. I'm around same height and is hard to find much good advise for really tall boxers so ended up watching him and his brother's fights and helped me out a lot :)

RJJ, I bet everyone has at one point.

I watched tons of RJJ highlight vids before each training, it often resulted in me getting my ass kicked during sparring.

Now I simulate Wladimir klitschko and I actually do good

I've studied so many, but there are only a few I've tried to copy, and it's particular punches.

I've tried to copy Barrera's circling with the jab and then attacking the body a lot with the lead left- very effective for me sometimes.

I've tried to copy the haymaker punch Hopkins throws, an overhand right where he ducks down so that his own body prevents the opponent from seeing the shot - it shoots over your own head pretty high, I think most people are expecting a right cross instead.

I've tried to copy the combo Erik Morales throws with a left uppercut overhand right left uppercut combo but that almost never lands.

Floyd's leaping left hook from the Corrales fight when I was a little younger and did not have reach on an opponent.

That's about it, otherwise I'm a poor poor poor man's right handed Pac, calves and all, bouncing around in and out - that's my natural style, an in and out combo strafer, but I don't do that against good opponents.

I haven't boxed in almost 3 years but I used to study Thomas Hearns for offense and Pernell Whitaker for defense.

It even got to a point to where my coach would throw people in the ring with me and the object was for them to hit me (I couldn't hit back) and I'd just work my defense.
