I love when guys go on the obnoxious offensive while showing how ignornt they are to the sport ... they give us a two for one .. Norton had an 80" reach with a ramrod jab almost as fast as li's and much harder ... it would give Wlad fits as it busted him up ...
Lewis has the better use of angles, balance, better right hand, inside game. Boxing isn't just about outside game Either way I think Lewis would rush Wlad, which he tended to do with big men and it may be over quite quick
people thread is about who can outbox wlad, not who can knock him out. i think ali and holmes have the best chance
Considering Norton had that awkward defensive style that broke Ali and Holmes' rhythm, I could see Norton at least frustrating Wlad, maybe even taking a few rounds. The size differential is still present, but Wlad and Norton have about the same reach (81" vs 80" respectively) and Norton was no slouch in the strength department. He was one of the few people that was muscling around Ali, a very strong man in his own right. I'd still favor Wlad if it went 12 or 15 rounds, but I wouldn't write off Norton. Also, Lewis had a 84" reach, if you think reach factors. Wlad is also only an inch taller. I personally think Lewis is more resourceful and has the better jab to outbox Wlad successfully more times than not.
Thing is, Wlad is far more powerful than Ali or Holmes while beeing still very skilled. And he has a size advantage, when Norton jabs him, he has to jab upwards and thus making him lose reach. And we know how Norton did against powerful punchers. No, Wlad´s jab is better, it´s straighter, faster and harder. Lewis was often pawing with his jab. Wlad isn´t. IMO Wlad is Top5, perhaps even Top3, when it comes to the outside game at hw. wlad is a very good boxer and a very good puncher but a miserable fighter. That´s why Lewis and Liston would beat him.
I don't think I'd favor Norton either. My point was that he could eek out a few rounds and probably lose a 9-3/8-4 type of decision if it went to the cards. Somewhat unlikely, but Norton seemed to suffer more from fear and nerves against big punchers than just a bad chin. It'd depend on the circumstances but Wlad doesn't really have that intimidating persona that Shavers and Foreman carried themselves with in addition to their power. IMO, Lewis has a pretty decent jab to trouble Wlad who has never had to deal with an opponent with an elite jab and similar size. The name of the thread is who can outbox Wlad, not who is going to outbox Wlad every single time. I wouldn't put money on Lewis to do it 10 times out of 10 but he'd still effectively trouble Wlad all 10 times I feel, while winning a number of those himself, just not all of them or even a majority.
Holmes and Ali would but i got something better that knowones thinking of,1982-83 Greg Paige, the best jab in heavyweight history with very good feet,Holmes didnt want any of him at the time,he'd box Klitschko's head off.
With or without the roids? Briggs was the former REAL, TRUE, World Heavyweight Champion, but he really didn't deserve the win over a 48 and soon to be 49 year old George Foreman. Briggs' chin is worse than Wladimir's, in my opinion. Now, I am not saying Briggs doesn't have the pop to KO Wladimir, of course he does. But I don't think he has the skill now or at any time in his career to beat a prime Wladimir Klitschko. I know you must be a big fan judging by your avatar, but Briggs is only great against those bums he can KO in 20 seconds. Any decent heavyweight would beat him.
Lewis actually has a pretty big reach adv. bodhi i think you have the image of the flat footed Lewis of his late 30's in your head. When he was younger he was a great athlete, very fast overall and co-ordinated.
