Norton had some psychological problems with punchers, and tended to freeze in spots. I think Wlad has the height, defense, footwork, and range here.

Norton could do as you say, but when he was matched with punchers he was dangerously timid.

Wlad's defense, concept of ring generalship, and zoning to use his height and reach to their maximum have turned good boxers like Chambers, Byrd, and Chagaev into fighters without gameplans.

Maybe a 60's Ali, a late 70's to early 80's Holmes, a mid 90's Lewis, or his brother could out box Wlad in a pure game of points. I have doubts if the others could.

I think you are talking directly to Shannon.

From N.Y. Times. Briggs got humilated by McCline who was in turn dominated and stopped by Wlad. Forgot about cracking chins, Briggs wasn't in either fighter's class.

Jameel McCline's stock in the heavyweight division keeps rising, while Shannon Briggs keeps leaving his potential unfulfilled.
In a battle between boxers headed in different directions, McCline (28-2-2) won an impressive unanimous 10-round decision last night over Briggs (36-4-1) in the Theater at Madison Square Garden. Showing superior hand speed and an excellent jab, McCline was never in trouble and controlled the fight from the early stages. All three judges scored the fight, 99-90, in favor of McCline.
The only knockdown came midway through the sixth round, and it was Briggs who fell. McCline decked Briggs with a left-right-left combination to the head that sent Briggs onto his back. Briggs showed he could take a punch, rising at the count of five, and looking steady the rest of the round. But McCline controlled the fight with a crisp left jab that kept Briggs on the defensive.
Briggs could land only one punch at a time, but McCline put punches together. McCline has not lost since 1996, and he said he feels he is moving closer to a shot at the heavyweight title.

I think of the Lewis with Stewart, the one who often held his left low and pawed with his jab. Lewis was pretty fast but slower as Wlad. And he was more open to punches. Wlad would get off first with his jab and that´s what would decide who would outbox who. Of course Lennox would do so too at times and from 10 times I guess he could do it 3-4 times. But Wlad should be favoured when it comes to outboxing. If this fight would happen I wouldn´t hesitate to pick Lewis.

I wouldn't hesitate to pick Lennox over every other HW. Well maybe except Ali and Liston.

Really? I´d pick Holmes, Louis above him too. I also think small swarmers will give him fits.

    Ali.

Watch him take apart a guy with a top end jab and height in Terrell.
