You cannot actually be serious with this response? Are you implying these guys with losing records from Mexico were actually good fighters? Do you have anything whatsoever to base this on?
Mario Martinez Ruben Castillo Roger Mayweather Rocky Lockridge Juan Laporte Edwin Rosario Jose Luis Ramirez Meldrick Taylor Hector Camacho Greg Haugen Pernell Whitaker Frankie Randall Oscar Delahoya I'll take Julio Cesar Chavez' top 12 opponents over Mayweather's top 12 anyday! …...and just about everyone of those 12 fighters was at or near their prime when Chavez was facing them.
First off, it's 87-0 and 89-0-1. When you look at just what those numbers mean, then it's no contest. One of the biggest combined records in boxing history vs a minor record which got blown up for a the wrong reason as it was compared to the HW win record (much harder).
This is a loaded question of course the higher number of wins is greater if you ignore the competition faced.
89-0 obviously, but then you have to look at resume etc. Im sure I saw an article that said Chavez lost or drew a fight quite early in his career but then it got changed afterwards
A non manufactured 45-5 is better than a 50-0 where a certain boxer picks the referee, the judges and even pay their opponents to not wear "certain gloves" IMHO. But whatever...
89-0 for me. An average joe of the street, if you put him thru 89 street fights and wins 89 of them, regardless of talent or talent fought, thats an unbelievable feat.
