Which is the strongest weight class atm in British boxing?

We all know how strong welterweight is in International boxing, but what do you fellas think it is in British boxing, light-welter maybe, light middle?

 

Light Welter but only because of Amir Khan.

 

welter/light middle looks brilliant.

also aroudn bantam looks good. tons of talent in the isles.

 

Light Welter is quite strong domestically.

If you think Gavin Rees was a belt holder recently and is way down the list......

 

Yup, Witter, Olusegun, McCloskey Daws, packed full of talent, can Britain dominate the world scence at Light welter, or are they not that strong?

 

In terms of decent matchups (okay, intriguing at least) Heavy isn't bad at all, although a lot of potentially good scraps are between middling opposition but domestically its interesting IMO. For me its Light-Welter though.

 

I would would have to say light welter - particularly if Frankie can get down to 140... I would pay a great deal of money to watch him v Khan down the line

I know there's a lot of maybes involved but I think light heavy has potential. You've already got Clev and hopefully Tony Bellew is on his way to success at that weight. Add to the mix Tony Jefferies, George Groves could easily move up down the line and maybe even Degale...could be a very tidy division domestically in two years time...?

 

Middle to Light Heavy has a crazy amount of talent.Groves DeGale Jeffries Saunders are the rookies.Barker Smith Quigley and Macklin are solid prospects at mw smw.Then you have Cleverly and Bellew at LH plus Jamie Moore maybe going up to MW.Not forgetting Froch who is already at the top.Historically(sic) smw is maybe the Uk's stongest division and looks like staying competitive.

 

Light welter has the most strength in depth but most of those fighters have peaked or are just the other side of their best days.

 

surely it has to be heavy - haye fighting for the WBA, Price and Fury as exciting prospects, and a few names battling around euro level like rogan (nearly british), sexton, and formerly skelton. and of course audley and chisora.

 

light welter is the strongest at the mo but loads of good prospects and champions in nearly all the divisions

 

Light Middle and Middle have a lot of depth to them domestically and Super Middle is a division to watch in the next couple of years.

 

Light middle. Rhodes, hall, moore, small all good fighters

 

Is frankie Gavin struggling to make 140lbs???? thats not good, he looks a small light welter as it is.

Light Heavy/Super Middle will throw up some intresting fights in a few year. But i imagine by the time Groves and Jeffries go up to light heavy, Bellew would be at cruiser.

DeGale has moved down to middle to avoid the likes of groves

 

No I don't think Frankie has any problems making 140 at the moment...I suppose what I meant was whether he stays there as his body continues to mature.

Tony won't go to cruiser (if he ever does) for some time yet, he's got a good two - three years at light heavy in my opinion. Him and jaffa are good mates and degale too, not sure how he'd feel about fighting them but hey, it's business isn't it...
