Obviously the first fight was the most signifigant. It was between two men who were both unbeaten and each man had a stake to being called THE champion

Casual cliques still make the mistake of blurting "Manila!", but they're a dying breed.

Fight of The Century was the more significant, and the better fight.

The FOTC was the most significant of the three..

But the thrilla in manilla held a great significance of its own. I believe this fight was symbolic of the end of the true "golden era" of the heavyweight division and represented closure on that period.

Frazier is overrated. Either Klitschko would kill him.

To get back to the question, the first fight was the biggest. Manila was sloppy to me, and both guys were past their best.

Glad you think so, too. It was a far better technical fight and both fighters were fantastic on the night.

The first Ali-Frazier was by far the most significant. It was a cultural event that transcended the sport of boxing, and represented a clash of generations. It's also a technically better fight than the Thrilla in Manila, although the latter is more brutal, and I enjoy it more for its back and forth action.

Definitely FOTC. Both guys undefeated, Frazier looking to beat Ali, and a lot to prove, and Ali looking to regain that belt. The magnitude of that fight, in a lot of ways, still hard to beat.

    First, by far.

Actually, if Ali won the first one, the other two might never have happened. And if Ali had won the first one convincingly, Frazier might be somewhat forgotten now. Despite some impressive wins previously, the win over Ali made Frazier legendary, and certainly made his whole career in the eyes of the casual fan.

He still beat Ali, though. And Ali was still exceptional.
