Bunce has built up a good rapport with his guests and this is what makes his shows and interviews above the rest. Rafael is good for breaking gossip but not much else. I like Teddy Atlas too. He can waffle on (every fight its bad neighbourhood, real estate, work the body) ,is prone to some bias but the guy eats, sleeps and craps the sport. He is not afraid to give his opinion and I think he picks up on a lot of subtle things that are going in the ring.
All the writers that I sometimes used to read articles from on Boxingnews24.com.... were the worst in terms of bias, but insanely amusing though.
I'm with Uppercut. Just too much to say here. 'Starting at the bottom' these days is writing for free, on the web. If you go to the right place you get decent guidance, access, help with creds, etc. I do concede that it ****s things up when people start writing for print for free as people making a living from it get hit. For local rags though, a lot of the time if you're trying to break in it has to be for free or they don't run it because, as you know, they are skint coupled with not giving a **** about boxing.
Bert Sugar. Firstly I can't take him seriously in his fedora hat and unlit cigar in his mouth. Secondly, I hate the way he raconteurs about fighters like Dempsey and Jack Johnson as if he knew them and was there at the big fights. He's an old fart but not that old. Both combine to irritate me - as well as slipping in blatant fairytales into his stories...yeah yeah shut up Bert
Colin hart... Dan rafael... Colin HArt does my nut in, always bangin on about the old school fighters... And how no1 will ever compare to them. Hes stuck in the past and talks complete nonsense... Hes an intelectual in boxing, he knows a bit of history... hes not inteligent.. And Dan Rafaels just a fat ****... He changes his mind too much... Hes like a *****, he favors fighters..
For the record I can't stand Colin 'This is my real hair' Hart, guys like him and Bert Sugar just seem to fantasise that they were in the mix among the greats. No different from me in fifty years time saying I gave advice to Mayweather, Pac-man, Klitskho etc
People can say what they want about him, but he knows his boxing more than any commentator or pundit i've ever seen. Atlas is brillient because not only does he have the knowledge, he can articulate it and put it across really well. Teddy along with Al Bernstein is the best analyst out there. He's really big on the mental side of the game too, which i really like.
I always look out Altas isms that end up in posts on here. "Invest to the body" became very popular a few months back...;O)
