You're right it was too early for this thought process and for you to make a thread... "Best fighter ever filmed" .. and greb is somebody you named... ummmm.. yeah... As far as your view of whitaker being ranked that high.. I wouldn't disagree mang
Perhaps, but its just my preference, if the footage is not good enough for me to study the movements of the fighter then its no good to me... Gans might have been a brilliant technician, but I`ll never know because its nothing more than a chore & an eye strain for me trying to study footage as bad as that... to each their own tho, its not my thing.
I agree with TS. I think Whitaker is the all-round best ever, even ahead of Duran, Robinson, Leonard, etc.
That's like including Dan Brown in your top writers ever and ignoring Shakespeare because The Da Vinci Code is easier to read than Hamlet. Indefensible position Bill, if you're that lazy you shouldn't even be on here bothering to discuss such things as your scope is too (wilfully) limited.
What winds me up is when people say they dislike/can't be araed with the old timers but still think they can have an opinion in 'best ever' 'greatest' etc etc threads.
Better as in pure skills or better as in if every fighter was the same size he`d win the most fights ?... because if its the latter then Robinson (or Pep) would be my pick... if its the former then I dont have an answer right now. :good
David Tua knocked much better Ss out than d 1s Pernell did and unlike him got 2 age 40 without getting stopped , and then his opposition was not less 4midable . True that Chavez is ranked higher than Lewis p4p , but lasting d distance against Lewis 4 a man Tua's size without going down > lasting d distance vs Chavez 4 a man Whitaker's size . Whitaker was also younger than Chavez and also started and ended his career at weights higher than Chavez had . Tua > Whitaker & Chavez , especially than Whitaker .
