Well don't worry I am sure that Ajose Olusegun and Paul McCloskey will get it on one of these days hopefully for a world title fight. We h\ave to take Chebah to get the WBC tiutle shot so 1st things 1st. Everyone knows I like McCloskey and would love it for him to bust Amir Khan's bubble.
McCloskey should jump at the chance to fight names like that. He's 31 years old, as good as he's ever likely to be. He's got some exposure off the back of a frankly disapointing performance so strike while the iron is hot I say...
People said the same about Amir, yet he didnt land a meaningful shot on him (with his hands) in 6 rounds.
When asked (on a much more high brow forum than this) who McCloskey should fight next my response was thus - "They could dig up Juan Lazcano, called it "the Homecoming" as a thank you to all his fans put it on in the Odyssey Arena and he would ram it out. As someone said above, Hearn needs to capitalise quickly. Those people on the streets aren't really boxing fans, its a community, Dudey is a likeable and popular fecker from a good family and married into another good well respected family. He commands a lot of goodwill and has tapped into something I haven't seen in a long time. We hosted the afterparty in Bar38 and turned away 200 people on the night. The place was rammed but you could just tell that these weren't your regular fight goer - no coked up, shaven meatheads - just regular people, no hassle, no attitude, no chavs. It was a pleasure. I'd love to think that they could get Zab Judah but thats unrealistic. Maybe they could bill McCloskey and Ajose Olusegun as a WBC eliminator or Bredis Prescott, Volodymyr Kravets or Cuban-Italian Brunet Zamora if they want to force their way back in to the WBA but more likely is that Michele DiRocco that he was going to fight for the European title or one of the "average Brits" (Daws, Theopane, McAllister, Limmond) or the unfortunately named Ville Piispanen who has the EU title."
But that is exactly what Khan did....I am not saying that Khan was brilliant that night, far from it. But McCloskey should have given it a real go and didnt and it will always regret that imo. Your assertion that Khan butted Paul is very poor, it was clearly an accidental clash... Basically McCloskey had his chance and blew it. At his age he needs meaningfull fights if he is going to challenge the top guys - he just reached the top, failed, and now he has nowhere to go.
