For starters there isn't any jr middleweight who is going to beat Pavlik. Forrest, Martinez, Spinks, Dzindnruk, Kirkland, etc. Pavlik beats and probably ko's most of them. At middleweight there are a few that have a decent chance. Abraham is obviously the top threat to Pavlik. I'd favor Pavlik but if he fights Abraham's fight then he's in trouble. Winky might be too old but if he's able to turn back the clock then Pavlik would have his hands full but you'd have to favor Pavlik. Williams would be quicker and awkward but I think Pavlik wins. All the rest of the middleweights are big underdogs-Sturm, Gevor, Karmazin, Mundine, etc. At 168 things change for Pavlik. Kessler beats him and Bute is a solid favorite. Froch and Andrade are great match ups and probably 50/50 fights and I think Froch would be a better match up for Pavlik than Andrade. Taylor would be an underdog but he would be a live one in a third Pavlik fight. Ward and Dirrell is a bit trickier to choose. Both guys have the speed and athleticism to make Pavlik look bad. But both guys haven't been in with anyone on Pavlik's level, Ward came the closest with Miranda. I don't know if they could outbox Pavlik for the whole twelve rounds. Thats now though, if they ever did fight Pavlik it would be a good year or two in the future and by that time both Andres should be well tested and I'd pick them both to beat Pavlik at that time. So in nutshell. No jr middleweight is beating Pavlik. I'd pick Pavlik over any middleweight but there are a couple solid threats to him. But at 168 he becomes just one of a number of good contenders who lose to the very best in the division.
Why was he calling out Pavlik then and seriously giving the impression that he wanted the fight and then suddenly change his mind? That looks like avoiding to me.
Well he did avoid Pavlik. I'm not saying Pavlik's the better or would have won, but the fact is JC called out Pavlik, then ran for the hills when Pavlik ate Lockett for breakfast and looked like he was going to accept the offer.
i dont recall that, why the **** would he take 2 steps back? fair play if he did but that does not make sense
Because he was saying that he wanted the best American Fighters. He first wanted Taylor and when Pavlik beat him, he then wanted to fight Pavlik.
The **** is funny. Why would Calzaghe fight Pavlik for? Money, Legacy? He would have beat him to death and than might not got the chance to fight and beat Bhop and Jones in the same year.
when did he say this? after what fight? where is the article? where is the video? i think u talk ****, back it up with a source and then i will hold my hands up and apologise
I thought you were a Calzaghe fan but it seems that you don't know much about him. There were many times that I've heard Calzaghe say he wanted to fight Taylor and Pavlik in post-fight interviews.
