Who clinches more Ruiz or Hopkins?

I wouldn't force my worst enemy to watch Rahman v. Ruiz.

 

It goes like this:

1. Ruiz
2. Hopkins
3. Hatton
4. Waldo

 

Agreed Hatton is the benchmark.

 

ruiz i think clinches more because his fighting stratagy to all fights usually involve clinching.

 

A 43 year old man uses it tactially.

Get back to me when Ruiz accomplishes something, like KO'ing Oscar De La Hoya with a bodyshot.

 

Bingo. The idea of comparing an aging great like Hopkins, who used clinching as his ATG skills decline, with a talentless palooka like Ruiz, who clinched because he had no skills, is absurd.

 

Hatton is a consistently worse clincher than Hopkins.

Hopkins would have happily fought on the inside with one hand if Cortez let them, but as with the Mayweather/Hatton fight - Joe broke up the inside stuff a bit quickly - Unless both hands are tangled - Let them work it out I say.

 

Hopkins and Ruiz are carbon copies. However, there is a big difference between a clinch and holding. Hopkins was not clinching, he was grabbing and holding.

 

Let me make it clear . . . career wise nobody beats Ruiz . . . but on this particular fight . . . Bhops gave him a run for his money.
