    Antonio Margarito.

Oscar was supposed to fight the winner of Cotto-Margarito but after the fight he changed his mind claiming and saying that "I dont want to fight anymore mexicans" he went on to pick a lightweight for his next fight instead ,the rest is history...

He was managed by Bob Arum to face past prime greats, or contenders who weren't that dangerous earlier in his career. The challenges weren't easy but they were calculated, much like Pacquaio's career was managed later by Arum.

He never really faced the high risk, low reward guys like Winky Wright, Tyszu and Forrest. He or Arum also avoided rematches with Quartey and Whitaker. He did face most the top guys at 147 and 154.

The Quartey fight was stalled for a long time too, Arum used the lure of a big money fight to stop Quartey signing for other fights. For his run from '97-'99 he was nicknamed Chicken Delahoya, then in '99 the 2 big controversial unifications with Quartey and Trinidad. Quartey was 18months inactive recovering from malaria and Trinidad was weight drained, he deserved to be 1-1 in reverse for those fights.

The Mosley fight was a big fight, but Forrest was the top welterweight after Trinidad and Quartey left WW, which he later proved.

Even the Hopkins fight may seem ballsy but he did get a 38yo middleweight to come down to a 157 catch weight.

However he did not duck Winky as he offered Winky 6million to fight, which probably was only about 10% of the fights worth but it was still an offer. Oscar was also coming off a loss and Winky was P4P at this time.

It is said basically De La Hoya fought everyone that mattered, but that is rubbish!

Where was Oscar/Evander, De La Hoya/Lewis or Golden Boy/Bowe?;)

This TOP 50 ALL TIMER ducked absolutely nobody.

The hard-hitting Trinidad, Mayweather, Hopkins, Pacquiao, Mosley, Quartey etc. ALL IN THEIR PRIMES.

    He's The ****.

Please explain why he decided to drain himself 9lbs to fight PACQUIAO then in 2008? Not the people that Paquiao raped??

Because Pacquaio had 1 fight above 130lbs and he thought it was an easy cherry pick? Vernon Forrest joking 'Can I fight Marquez then'?

But yea Margarito wasn't a draw, Delahoya would have fought Cotto if he won, Cotto probably fights DLH at 154 and DLH wins to rematch Mayweather

Oscar fought them all, period! I don't think he ducked anybody.

Now did he fight the fights that the fans and media alike, especailly the fans and haters who continue to even dog and loath him in retirement, wanted him to fight when they wanted him to fight them, no. But even to this day, especailly when it comes to Mayweather, fans/haters and media outlets alike fail to understand that boxing is a business at hand first because it's such a dangerous sport that the fighter or fighters engaging in the squared circle have to make sure that they're getting the right amount for themselves so that when they're retired they can be as financially secure as possible.

No matter who you are or how great the fighter is or was there will always be a fight that a historian of the game will always point out as what if? Sugar Ray Robinson had guys like Charlie Burley and Archie Moore as his, Sugar Ray Leonard had Pipino Cuevas and Aarron Pryor, and that's just to name a few. Oscar probably had some in the form of Azumah Nelson at 130 lbs, Jose Luis Lopez, Antonio Margarito & Jose Luis Lopez at 147lbs, and Terry Norris & "Winky" Wright at 154 lbs. But the list of the fighters that he did fight long outweighs any negatives on Oscar's part.

And keep in mind that right before Oscar fought both Felix Trinidad and Ike Quartey, when both where undefeated, Quartey and Trinidad where actually close to finalizing their own deal for a big money WBA-IBF unification welterweight showdown against each other!
