Who do you rate higher Ali or Holmes?

The ropes were loose because they were for a nineteen foot ring which they mutually agreeed to. Ali would have been within his rights not to fight in a sixteen foot ring. The referee Zach Clayton said he couldn't 't believe Ali agreed to fight Foreman in what he called a phone booth. And George was always susceptible to movers. For the love of money Tommy Gunn became a mover just to fight George.

 

As good as George was and he's in my top five he's a sucker for clever movement and a granite chin. Some have one but not the other, Ali had both.

 

The fact of the matter is Holmes ducked all the guys that could rise to a high level post the Witherspoon scare. Hell, he dropped the title to fight Marvis Frazier and co instead of a top contender. Witherspoon was a cherry pick gone wrong as it was - he'd struggled to beat Snipes and had just 15 fights to his name. He turned out a lot better than expected. Holmes said he wouldn't be fighting the top guys as he'd earned it. We've seen all the gyrations and people twisting themselves into pretzels over many years in attempts at denial to minimise the whole scenario but it just doesn't stand up.

 

Can't fault that.
