Who do you think GGG will fight next?

Given how the judges scored both matches, it's a very reasonable position to take. Given how hyped GGG was going in, and how GGG fans outnumber Canelo fans on here, it makes a lot of sense. Trying to peer pressure me out of what happened isn't goong to work. Canelo performed very well in that first match, he performed way better than GGG. GGG performed OK but never came close to hurting Canelo. GGG never had any spectacular moments. In most rounds he was just chasing Canelo around the ring, missing a lot of punches, landing mostly glancing shots, getting tagged with counters, becoming frustrated at not being able to land, etc.

Canelo outboxed him early on, hung in there in the middle rounds when GGG tried to up his work rate then finished strong in the Championship rounds. The first match was a legendary match that will be talked about for years, a battle for the ages, and the argument you are making that it was somehow a clear GGG win is totally insane. This idea that Canelo could only win by fighting the way he did in the rematch by coming at GGG is GGG-fan propaganda and is created by the idea that since GGG was the Champ he had an advantage going in and Canelo had to not just beat him but beat him clearly. That's not how boxing works. Rounds are scored straight up, Champions don't have an advantage. Whoever lands better punches and wins more rounds wins. The judges couldn't decide who won the first match, it was extremely close.

 

No peer pressuring here. I think they are more "boxing" fans on this forum than GGG fans. The first match was NOT legendary. The second match was closer to being legendary. It was a war, it was not a Canelo beat down of GGG. I'm a GGG fan, yes but I have also grew into a Canelo fan as of late. There is no relevant fighter between 160-168lbs that can make it a competitive fight with Canelo at the moment besides Golovkin. The Saunders fight will be a stinker, Saunders will make it semi competitive, but he will be on the move majority of the fight.

 

Yes it was. And it was far more interesting and fun to watch than the rematch. Because of how Canelo fought, and the strategy he employed, of using his skills, footwork, being elusive, setting traps, frustrating GGG etc. It was a better clash of styles, the rematch was essentially a role-reversal of the first match, which was created by what happened in the first match.

The rematch was fun as well, and was more of a slugfest / war with how Canelo fought. But it was offset with how GGG fought, much more defensive than how he fought the first time. So neither was truly an all-out war since both cases you had one fighter mostly coming forward and the other mostly backing away. In the last 3 rounds in the first match you saw some of the best action in either match with both fighters coming forward at times.

GGG got beat up but I wouldn't call it a beat down. GGG hung in there and tried to use his boxing skill to mitigate damage. GGG sustained significant damage in both matches, much more damage than Canelo sustained. A lot of that had to do because he was older but also because of the fact that Canelo is a better power puncher.

You might be right about this. GGG certainly took Canelo into deeper waters than anyone else has. And the reverse is true, Canelo took GGG into much deeper waters than anyone else has.

Depends on which Saunders shows up. Saunders himself in recent interviews isn't too sure of what version of him will show up. Billy Joe doesn't seem to have much control over his own condition which is certainly worrying. But that doesn't mean he won't have a great camp in April and show up in good shape.

The last 3 rounds were entertaining, especially round 10. But just like all the other rounds in the first fight, Canelo did not do enough in the last few minutes of each round.

 

In your opinion. You don't like how he fought, because he retreated too much and didn't engage enough for your liking. This strategy of course frustrated GGG as it made it difficult for GGG to land clean shots on him which is important in scoring.

 

Also GGG matched him or nearly matched him in the early going in the rounds, thats what some forget.

GGG missed some shots, but bruh he was definitely landing too. He controlled the 2nd half of majority of the rounds as well.
